I would to start off by telling everyone on here hello and thanks for the information that I have already gathered here. Now on to my question, which bullets to try? I shoot a savage 7mm rem mag, and I looking for a hunting bullet (mule deer and antelope) for shots out to 700 yards. I am looking in 150-170gr. range. I shot 140gr. accubonds last year, not enough bullet for the deer. I have tried the 168gr bergers and just cann't get them to shoot for s**t. Just looking for some suggestions.

i can't imagine a 140 accubond not being enough for deer. i'd think it would be close to optimum. but, they make a 160 accubond that is a great bullet.

+1 an the 160 gr AB

Or you could try the 150 gr Scirocco

Gotta agree with davewilson though, hard to imagine the 140 AB not getting the job done.

I have three 7mm rem mags and run barnes 150 grain TTSX in them. Sweet bullets...

Plus 3 on the 160AB, or a 140/160 partition. I have done some wicked damage on elk with a 140 partition out of a 280 rem so I know they are stout enough for any deer.

I shot 140gr. accubonds last year, not enough bullet for the deer.

Just curious, you mentioned 1 shot so I'm assuming you killed it w/o needing a second shot. Can you elaborate on why you say not enough bullet for a deer.

Here is the reason that I said a 140gr accubond was not enough for deer. Last year in Wyoming dad and I both shot mule deer (his was at 230yds. mine was 148yds.) both were shot through both shoulders mine went 700 yards and his went right at a mile. Together we have been deer hunting for 60 plus years, its not like we are rookies at killing deer. I wish that I would have taken pics of the entry and exit holes on those deer, no one believes us. I even have the bullet out of mine. I would have said it was a fluke but both of them went a long ways.

The bullet that I have went through both shoulders, it expanded about 2x, and weighs 97gr. I will take a pic and post as soon as i get chance.
