338 edge semiauto

It is getting to that time. Lloyd DeSantis from RND Manufacturing, Inc. - The EDGE has called and my rifle is almost done. He has asked me to send some ammo for cycle testing. Because this is a semi what powder charge do you guys think I should send him? Shawn on his web site has retumbo 94.5 gr. I was thinking about 92 to be on the safe side or should I go lower.
On a different note does anyone have any experience with a semiauto 338 edge. Also ordered 338 lapua and 408 cheytac

I would send a hotter load to see if the rifle can handle it. You can always back it down to perfect your load later.

I thought of that but what happens if I back in down later and it wont cycle. Maybe I should send 2 different loads. Remember semiauto

If it was me, I would send him the brass/dies/bullets and pay him to do alittle load developement for you. I am actually surprised he would want to should ammo that you loaded. I would think he would want to do it himself in order to see what works, and how it functions, and be able to control pressure signs.
Is this an AR platform you are building ?
If so, bolt action loads will not ably, and you need to do load developement from square one.

I do aggree he should do some load development. You have to load diffrent for an AR. OAL is very importand. You will want to full length size your brass every time also. Bullet seats burther off the lands usually also.

Just talked to lloyd and im going to do what you sugested. Just with out paying him. He doesnt have to do any load developement just make sure it cycles from 92 to 94.5gr of rutumbo. Thanks for all the input!

No not all mine. But a group of three that shoot together couple times a week. We are waiting for the rnd guns to arive but everything else we have. We should have the 408 and 338 lapua next week but the 338 edge will be longer.

If you're talking about Carlock, he may have Retumbo on his web site, but I will tell you, he is a big H1000 guy. Most of his customers are shooting 90 grains H1000 in the edge. This is what he recommends.
