Has anyone loaded berger 175 or 185 bullets, and what loads worked out for you. Also which one did you like best?

I have used the berger 175 in a 308 Win.
I am shooting
44.2 gr of RL15
Fed 210M primer
Nosler case
Velocity is 2710 Avg, ES 16, SD 7.
I am currently 0.188 in off the lands. They shoot pretty good but I still have to play with the seating depth. Gun is a Rem 700 SPS with a 1-12 barrel.

I shoot the 185grain Hunting VLD out of my 300 win mag. The bullets are seated .03 off the lands.
H-1000 powder
CCI 250 large rifle mag primers
Remington brass.

You can go to the Berger site and down load their reloading info. I started low and work my way up with the powder charge until I started seeing pressure signs. I ended up about two grains down from that point.

I'm working with the 185 VLD's out of my rifle. Load is as follows:
  • Norma fully prepped brass
  • CCI BR2 primers
  • VV N150 @ 42.6 grs = 2525 fps
This combination will only do about 1 moa at 200 yards, even after all of my seating depth playing. Because of the theory about bullets going to sleep (I'm a big believer) I'll stretch out to 300/400 yards in the next week of two to see if accuracy improves with distance.

In my 300 Ultra I've been shooting the 185's. Remington XCR stock 26'' barrel.

97.0 grains of Retumbo = 3225fps.
OAL. of 3.665'' (Hunting Rifle, has to fit in mag)

Berger suggests 96.0 max load, but I'm not into the lands and am NOT seeing any signs of pressure. 3 shot groups are around half inch @ 100yrds.

I have shot many 175 vld's out of a 308 with a rock creek barrel and a factory FN SPR but I have not tried the 185's. The 175 works well in both rifles. My load is Varget 44.6g in Lapua brass and 45g in Winchester brass, WLR primers in both. In the custom barrel I seat just into the lands and the SPR jumps from mag length 2.850ish.

One of my keeper .308 loads is 185gr Berger Hunting VLD's over 43.3gr of Varget and 2.90" OAL (.02 off lands), Win. brass, CCI 200 primers.

Shot many 175VLD....

44grain RL15
Fed210M
Remington brass

A buddy of mine shoots the 208grain Amax over 48 grains of RL17 in his 308. Sends that bullet at 2800fps!

Hey, Miller Outdoors- has it been your experience that the 185's out of a .308 winchester take a few hundred yards to go to sleep or settle in? Or do you consistantly see good accuracy closer than 250 yards?

For the price, I can't justify continuing with my load with accuracy that won't drop below 3/4 moa.

In my limited experience with them the accuracy is there at 100 yards if it's going to be there at distance. I have, however, noticed consistently better groups at distance than up close in relation to MOA, but not big differences - like in the neighborhood of .10 or .15 moa.
