Currently tinkering with a Remington Sendero 25-06 that I've ad for 10 or so years. What I know about it is it does not like Sierra boat tails. It gives good accuracy but not excellent. My previous 25-06, a Mark X never liked anybody's heavy for caliber bullet but would put Speer 100 grain HPs through the same hole all day long. The Mark X made a wonderful groundhog gun out at long range for me, 300 to 500 yards. I'd like to duplicate this accuracy.

Jim,
Welcome to the site from a fellow Virginian! Be warned, this sport is highly addictive!

On to your question, have you tried different powders? Two other heavyweight bullets to try are the 115gr Berger VLD and the 115gr Nosler Ballistc tip. There aren't a whole lot of good long range 1/4 bore bullets out there. Those are your best bet.

I would put money on the fact that the 115gr BT will be MEAN to groundhogs!

That Speer 100 grain hollow point would blow day light through the groundhog at most any range.
The powders I've used so far were IMR 4831 and IMR 4350.
I'll order some Bergers and give them a try.
If I can't get the rifle to shoot I'll switch the barrel, have the action trued with a new recoil lug.
Thanks for the in put.

Glad I could help, best deals on Berger bullets are from powdervalleyinc.com and bruno's shooters supply (not sure of the website address, google will tell you though).

The senderos are usualy pretty darn good right out of the box.

Where do you usualy hunt ground hogs? (can send me a pm so we don't spam up your thread)
