Gus is at it again

Cool! First order of business this evening... DownLoad and checkout Patagonia Ballistics LoadBase 3.0 ballistic software.

I charged up my PPC just a couple night ago to play with LoadBase using multiple wind zones. Ususally I don't have it charged when there is an update ready and I have to wait for it to charge.

What all is changed?

This update incorporates the following additions:

BALLISTICS Module

· Shoot! tab

-New UI design to address the need for Rapid Fire Engagement

1. Whenever a change in the Wind or Incline parameters is detected, including changing the UNITS, a new calculation is required.

2. All Fire Solution fields turn to "----" and the RANGE box turns to WHITE ON WHITE, and all settings turn to a DISABLED state.

3. In the example, the Incline units was changed from DEGREES to COSINE and a new value was entered.

4. Then apply a SINGLE TAP (not tap and hold!) to the WHITE rectangle of the RANGE box selector and wait until the calculation is over.

5. Of course, tapping on RESULTS or CHARTS will have the same effect as expected.

6. In general, it's important to realize that the system will always recalculate if a change is made to ANY parameter that implies a change to the ballistics curve.

· Shoot!/Winds

-The Fire Data tab was modified to a Multiple Winds page only.

· Data/Env tab

-The ENVIRONMENT tab is now the first page for a fast access to the ENV data.

ANALYZER Module

· ATM tab

-The new ATM tab allows to calculate Density Altitude, ICAO Std Atmosphere, Heat Index and Wind Chill Index.

-The ICAO Std Atmosphere values are a very good alternative when the only known parameter is ALTITUDE.

· BC (from Vel) tab

-New Std Atmosphere option. Select the output to be referenced to ICAO or Std Metro.

Exellent!

The RANGE box turns to WHITE on RED when the bullet went subsonic. While supersonic, it's WHITE on BLUE

I like the different tab lay out, seems to be in the order you want to change stuff.

Also dign the yardage changing to red like Eaglet said and I think the solution is faster. Having the wind direction and velocity on the shoot screen is better but I miss also having the velocity and energy because I kinda used that to gauge if a shot was within my comfort zone.

I like the Atm tab in the analyzer, so if all I know is my temp and alt I can use this to find what Density altitude to use back in my Ballistics Env tab for a better solution, right?

There it is!!!

I've been tinkering using multiple wind zones for canyon shooting and I found that changes in wind direction and velocity in the Shoot screen changes the first zone in the winds tab.

Man this program is cool, wish I had more time to shoot and play with it!!!!

As always nice screen shots Eaglet!!

10-4!

I like the Shoot! tab modifications. An improvement for sure, from my perspective. I like that the Wind Dir is provided in typed text directly above the "degrees" input selector & box. I was always 2nd guessing myself on the proper degrees input for wind direction. Like is a 90 degree wind mean the wind is from 90 degrees or blowing toward 90 degrees? Having this typed text next to the angle provides easy confirmation which is correct.

The ability to adjust incline on the Shoot! Fire Solution screen is very handy. While hunting sheep and Mt goats I'm always shooting up or down. Last fall 30 degree up to a goat. 30 degrees is a lot and makes a huge difference in dope at 720 yds. I like that the firearm track description is ID'd at the top of the Shoot! Fire Solution screen. This provides confirmation the correct track from the Database has been loaded.

In general, the interpretation and use of this Shoot! screen just seems more intuitive and user friendly for me.

Thumbs up Gus! I would really like to be able to save my Latitude with my Tracks, rather than having to input the Latitude every time I load a Track. But there isn't a whole lot that isn't already terrific about this software - just as it is. Very cool.

By the way, you LoadBase afficionados -- why don't a few of you go over to the LRH Gear Shop and post a testimonial/review? :)

And for the newbies, Gus arranged with me that you can buy just the Desktop or Mobile Edition -- or both editions. You can't buy just the Desktop or Mobile Editions from Gus.

And I am proud that the LRH Gear Shop is now offering the most complete ballistics software out there!

Simply, well said!
