The Roe Buck season started on the 1st of April and so far ive been out a couple of times. The first evening i took my son out for a look and we got set up and waited to see if any would show up after about an hour we spot a buck at 182yrd.i ask the wee man if we should take him ( silly question ) so that was my first of the season

a couple of days later iam out with one of my mates and we are on our way to my favorite spot when we spy a young buck at 100yrds so we nail him sort him out and move on ( 60% of my cull is made up of yearlings so i take them when ever i get a chance )
we get set up and wait this is one of those spots where a deer can pop out from 200yrd - 700yrd.We aren't there long and spy one at 250 but he wont settle and moves back into cover but its not long before we spy another at 520yrds feeding towards us he settles at 500yrds and we send him a message from Hornady he drops on the spot
iam using a 6.5x284 with 140 amax which was built by Shawn Carlock

I'm just curious; is the roe deer season always in the spring? Or do you cull the herd in the spring and hunt the better bucks in the fall?

Natty
The Bucks start on the 1st of April and end on the 20th of October and Does start 21st oct and end 31st of March ( shooting all year round )
i usually leave a few better bucks until the rut ( july/august) they are good fun as you can call them into Bayonet range:D
we dont have a tag system for our deer but all of our land is private so you have to lease or pay per day/week
on this bit of land i have the lease and shoot around 20 Roe per season plus its only ten minutes from my home
i also have some Fallow and access to Red and Sika when they are in season

all the best

That's one sweet looking rifle, and a great shot! My family and I will be headed to Scotland to hunt Roe Deer on June 12th of this year! I will be renting a rifle out there and won't be taking any of my custom rifles, as I plan to tour Scotland after the hunt!

Your Son will remember these times with his Dad the rest of his life, congrats on the memories with your boy.

Nice animals and rifle, I have never heard of a "Roe" buck, we dont have those in Houston Texas, or in New York, where I am from originally.

I see "MURPH" is keeping up the age old tradition of the Murphy humor. My last name is Murphy too, and my Brother is quite the comedian as well. You cant get mad though, because he would be the first one to come running to help you if you needed it - Thats the Irish.
Theres only one thing worse than being irish, and thats NOT being Irish.....

MY Daughter out fishes me every time.
her fish are bigger, she catches the FIRST one every time and she always catches more than me.
I love it.
