Berger bullets????????

The projected BC of all six new 338 bullets are also listed on on JBM. You can go there and play around with them and compare to 300 SMK. I like the fact that there will be three versions of both 250 and 300 grain bullets. Should be able to get one version or the other to shoot.

The 250 grain lineup is going to make the smaller 338 rounds look pretty potent at long range.

By late summer this year is the last I've seen posted here by a Berger employee. But, we were hoping for them at the end of summer 2009 as well. However, I do know they are working to get everything up and running. They have been producing a few--there's a pic or two of a couple of 300g version on this site somewhere--but apparently there's a tremendous amount of 'tweaking' to the machine to get the final product as near perfect at possible and, to my understanding, that's the mode they are in now.

Edit: Here's the pic... hybrid on L, tangent on R, I believe

Called berger today and they said right now they are testing the bc right now. So they will have the results in a couple of weeks and she said would be for sale a couple months after that.

It'll be interesting to see how close Bryan Litz (Berger Ballistician) comes to his estimates for the 300g bullets BC's given in his book 'Applied Ballistics for Long Range Shooting':

G1's probably at 3K fps--

300VLD -- G1--.914; G7--.468

300Hybrid -- G1--.892; G7--.456

300BT -- G1--.777; G7--.389

I hope 300 grain bullet can holds up to the 3400+ fps I get out of my 338 Allen Mag

I hope im wrong buti just cant see how they are going to be that much more coefficient than the smk.

The 300g VLD is 1.9" long vs. the 300SMK at 1.7 and the VLD has a much more agressive secant ogive than the SMK. Just looking at them the projected bc seem reasonable.

I am not holding my breath on the Berger bullets...The release dates continues to be pushed out....My 300 Gr SMK's do fine for now my next test is with the GS bullets,,,Has anyone here tried the GS solid? With any interest, Im sure Anthony can get us some hallow points. They are supposed be real accurate wth a high BC
