Just recentlly purchased a savage model 10fp.223, old style, (pre accutrigger) with flat top rear receiver. It has the "tupperware" stock. I am also in the process of buying a Savage model 12vlp.308, that has a laminated wood stock. My question is can I put the stock from the 12vlp on the 10fp? If so, I want to get a medalist stock for the #12 and ditch the #10 stock. The model 12 is going to become a "switch barrel" gun. It is presently in .308, and was thinking of getting either a factory barrel, (if that can be done), or have one made in 6.5-284. I am told that barrel switching is commonly done. All you have to have is a wrench, and a headspace gauge. I was going to build one from scratch using a remy action, but that is another story. Any thoughts on the stocks, or above statements? Thanks, AIM SMALL, MISS SMALL!!!!!!!!!! 7STW (P/S, I know that I would have to get a magizine for the 223, because the one for the 308 would be too big for the 223) The 10fp is a blind mag, the 12 is a drop box.gun)lightbulb

Action screw spacing as well as the magazine cutout on the action are different. Staggered vs center feed action.

KRP, Thanks for the come back. I know what you are refering to, and you are right. I am still learning some of the diferences in the Savage Rifles, and I forgot about the center and staggered feed. Well that about takes that possibility out of the equation. Thanks again! 7STW
