Remington left hand short action.

Can anyone tell me if Remington makes a left hand short action that will accomodate the 300wsm. Trying to set my lefty son in law up in a 300wsm and am not opposed to building one but I am not sure if they have an action that will work. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

They will, a Wyatt box will get you to a 3" OAL.

I've built a couple on long action Savages. Works great, especially on long bullets seated to the lands.

Thanks. Next question. Do the barrels on a left hand thread the opposite direction or the same direction as the right handers?

Same threads. Only difference is the bolt.

I would consider going with a semi-custom action rather than a remmy that needs to be trued. It will cost a little more, but have the features you are looking for and probably have greater resale (if that day ever comes). Take into consideration the purchase and trueing of the factory action, add sako or m16 extractor etc, and the cost is nominal.

Take a look a Stiller Predator available in left hand and left port.

Just my two cents from experience.

You can get the Stiller in stainless as well. Remington never made a stainless left hand short action.

I'd still vote for the long action Savage.

Thanks. The problem is that we started into this project without doing our homework first and have a trigger, HS Precison stock etc already because being the bonehead I am just assumed that Remingon made a 300WSM in left hand. Now it looks like our options are getting smaller or that we need to sell what we already have and start the right way. Thanks for the help.

The Stiller is a Remington clone. Will work with (DROP IN) your stock, trigger and any other Remington aftermarket part. That's the beauty of it. I have built several rifles and for me, this type of semi-custom action is the way to go on a precision LR rig. It's one thing to already have a donor rifle sitting in the safe, but when you have to source the action, stock, trigger, custom barrel etc., this just makes more sense.
