So I narrowed it down to ( SAVAGE 10 FCP-K 308 WIN MAG ) now I need the best optic under or close to 500! Can this be done or is it just wishful thinking? No hunting only target up to 1000. Any and all direction is welcomed...

I'm getting the same rifle and am trying to pick a scope as well. I was thinking I would be spending more than you are, I am interested to see what you are recommended.

without a doubt, falcon menace 5.5-25x50mm FFP. = $475 from various places on the web.

unbelievable scope for the money. Easily compares to scopes that cost twice as much. Best value out there for your budget. Alot of reviews on these @ snipershide forum.

+1 on the Falcon Menace (If you can find them).

The Nikon Buckmaster series. For target application the Buckmaster 6-18x40 SF w/ Target dot. I currently use this scope on my 300WSM and it is very repeatable in the clicks. It is 1/8" adjustments with full Minute marks. For the money in my mind, you can't beat it for under $300. If you want to go into the $425-450 range then the Vortex Viper line would be a great option. Also the 8-32x50 Vortex Crossfire would be an awesome scope for $230. A couple guys on this sight own one and say it is a very good scope for the price.
