Is there anything wrong with the shooters ridge or caldwell pivoting bipods? Or should a guy spend the extra cash on the Harris? And what length do you find optimum for shooting prone on the ground? I have a 6-9 Harris that works fine but at time's I think the 9-13 might be easier to use.

I have both (Harris and Shooters Ridge) and can't find two cents difference, even with calipers. I use the 9-13, I can't get comfortable behind anything shorter and I find myself always needing about two more inches over 9 so that one fits perfect but I also have to use a larger rear bag.

Nothing wrong with either but I prefer to use my 1907 sling up and snap in...I tend to be more steady and have better NPOA

The only thing I notice about the cheaper versions is that you need to keep an eye on the screws, nuts and bolts that hold them together. They will work loose and need to be tightened after repeated use. From now on its Harris for me, I don't mind paying for a little peace of mind.

For a bech or hood of the truck the 6-9 Harris works the best for me , if I'm on the ground the 9-13 or even the S25 works better depending on foliage hieghth.
I'll pay the extra for a Harris but have one Versa-Pod and a Shooters ridge. Have yet to pick a gun up off the ground or hood from a Harris but the Versa-Pod has tipped over numerous times because its way too loose with the swivel, it helped when I put a set screw on but its staying on the 17HMR!! The legs on the Shooters Ridge tend to want to fold down a LOT easier than the Harris, a real PITA when your panning for prairie dogs with a heavy barrel. The Shooters Ridge now stays on the 77-22 and works ok with that light of a gun.
