For some reason Remington made modifications to the 338 rum case making it in short unable to hold as much powder as the 300 Rum from what ive heard.
It will be an all around long range hunting rig able to take anything from mule deer to bears, big and small. I don't see myself taking any game at 1000 yards but might shoot some rocks or paper at that distance or further. I don't want it any heavier than 11 lbs with scope. I still need to be able to take it into the field. Thanks guys
They set the shoulder back to provide more space for the long .338 bullets without them getting into the lands.
It has always been my belief that the 300 Rum case was designed slightly longer so that it could not inadvertantly be put into a 338 RUM chamber.
