recommended range finder on budget?

I've got a bushnell elite 1500 and it works pretty good. My buddy picked up their arc 1000 and had no problem getting readings out to 8-900 all the time...

Bushnell 1500 would be the bare minimum for 1000+ yard ranging vs more expensive brands.

We have been using the arc 1000 also with good results, 800-900yrds consistently.

the further the better. I have heard good things about the Bushnell elite

I use the new Lieca 1200. It is very small, lightweight and ranges out to the 1200 yards it advertises on good targets. It is the only one I have ever got a long reading with on the tundra caribou hunting.

I agree, for the money the Lieca 1200 CRF is hard to beat. I have two of them and two Swaros. On flat ground I trust the leica's due to their smaller more precise beam and reticle size.

I have borrowed my freinds Lieca and it has worked flawlessly for me, I think he paid 700 for it though and being a college student I have other things to pay for like food and rent, I might just look into a used bushnell elite

The leica 1200 is definitely better than the bushnell elite in all area except for snow storm.


Yet, I was in this same situation a year ago and ended up with bushnell elite 1500. Can't complain cause I still don't have extra $200 but I'm happy cause it still good enough to hit moa targets beyond 1000 yards.

But this thing sucks on flat land(up to 700), have to find large object (to go up to 1200+) near my target and go from there. Leica shines on flat land.

I just picked up a like new but used Lieca 1200 CRF - Y with box and papers for $445 shipped. If you look you can find them often under $500

Can't beat it!!

I also have a bushy arc 1000 and have excellent results from it. I have been able to range large trees out to 800yds, I have hit deer at the 600yd mark. I have even been able to get turkeys out to 400yds with it. the futhest thing I ever ranged was a large white building in broad daylight at 1098yds. This is more than enough for my shooting needs.

Just found out that the nikon 1200 does just as well as leica 1200 and is only about $30 more than the elite.
