Ruger M77 MKII

I have a Ruger i gave to my son, won't shoot that great, gonna take in for work. What needs to be done other than new trigger, bed barrel etc. ANy other ideas to help this sad puppy so he will be much better off with that gun?

The MkII triggers can be ground and polished down to a better pull. I wouldnt try it if you arent mechanically inclined. I have 3 MkII rifles, and one of my triggers is down to around 2lbs.

Which stock is on the gun ? How many different loads have you tried in it ? Handload or factory fodder only ?



All 3 of mine are 1/2" shooters.

The one i got for him is the black composite stock, it is newer than the ones you have with the screws through the forend. Was going to take to gun guy to have work done also....

That's cool, was just letting you know you don't HAVE to buy a new trigger, but the Timneys are really nice ! Ruger's are smooth as silk and built like tanks. By far my favorite rifle.

Well what ya think should be done to them to improve the accuracy of the gun? It is chambered in .270WIN. It isnt consistant at all. Needs work to improve but what would be best money spent on this one?

A Boyd's laminated stock, with a free floated barrel would probably work wonders.

Really havent tried any loads other than factory in this gun, he does not hunt much just have for him to hunt with around our farm. But i shot it a few times to check and it does not shoot very consistant, two hundred yard gun at best, it needs attention....

By the way, how do you polish trigger on that gun, i have a couple of race cars and a farm, so i wouldnt survive without being mechanicaly inclined, lol....

get the timney trigger, you won't be sorry. Works very well with no creep at about 2.5-3 lbs. Crisp.
