200 Gameking vs 210 Berger

Last weekend I had a doe come within 25 yards of me before I could have shot her she busted me the wind was switching up in her direction and she left country. I load berger 210's in my 300 rum. If I kill any deer within 400 yards boy have a lot of folk got it commin:) I'm going to try my best to shoot one @ 20,30 yards just to see what all the fuss is about I will post in detail what happens good or bad but if it's good I'm going to he he and haw haw some fellas:) Then again I might be the one gettin he he and haw hawed. Of course everyone talks this way about the Amax bullets and I've killed several deer with them only complaint is the cleaning process looks like a bomb went off from the inside.:D

I went with the Bergers. Going to start load work this week. Do Bergers lose performance if loaded to fit the magazine ?

I load my 210 Bergers about .010 off the lands which will not fit the stock mag. However, I can load one round down and the tip of the bullet is above the mag wall. I've read some posts where guys have got good performance loading to fit the mag. Check the sticky on getting best accuracy from your Bergers.

What I have seen so far in three rifles that I've loaded for, is that the two that I seated the Bergers to touch the rifling wil provide great velocity as well as accuracy. The last 300 Win with the 168's that I loaded for I followed Berger's new recommendations for working up a load. I found the best accuracy in this rifle at .090" off the rifling and the shells will also fit in the mag. Accuracy is between .25 and .5 MOA in a stock Remington. However, I am displeased with the velocity we reached in that loading, at least 100 fps slower than it should be. This gun will be used for long range hunting and we wanted to keep that 1800 fps out there as far as we could. I slowly increased powder charge to max load and the accuracy went away. I know that when they are loaded to touch the rifling there is a sharp, quick pressure spike and I thinks that's where the velocity is coming from in the other two guns. If velocity is very important to you, you may want to just start out touching the rifling, most likely you will have great accuracy there too.
