MId to high end scope alternatives

Well, I have been running a NightForce for a couple of months. I really like the scope, but of recent I am starting to notice some problems with it. The elevation adjustment is not as positive as the windage. The windage is exactly what you would expect, but not the elevation. I am also noticing that my zero keeps changing. Same load, scope is not moving in the rings, nothing is shifting on the base, etc. I have been looking for all of that and it keeps leading me back to the scope. I still like the scope and have not found one better that suits my needs for long range applications. The scope will probable be heading back to them soon, and with as many scopes as they put out, something is going to be less than 100% sooner or later. However, I have got a few other long range builds that will be finishing soon and that are going to need glass. I wanted to know if there are other scope options out there that are comparable to the NXS. I would like to find something with many of the characteristics of the NXS, especially matching MOA reticles and turrets. Thanks.

I'd call US Optics about equal and they're in the same price ballpark. And you can get about whatever you want. S&B is gonna cost you a lot more dime, but you can probably find what you want there, too.

I have three NF scopes, all 12-42X and have had a problem with one, in that it was not tracking well. I returned it to NF and had it back in about ten days, no charge.

You might try a box test before you return it; at 100 yds, shoot into a 2" square, one shot at each corner, using 5 shots. That will tell you whether both adjustments are working as intended.

Ditto on Gene's question also. I wouldn't give up on the NF as I'm confident they'll make right any problem your having.

This sounds like it might be a loose elevation turret screw? Not saying it is, but if it were loose you would see these problems. Also, have you checked your rilfe with another know good scope? I would that that if possible to rule out the rifle before sending the NXS off. That is about the only way to actually know it's the scope and not the rilfe.

USO scopes are in the same league as the NXS but a fair bit more in cost. There are some scopes that cost less than the NF, bit none that I know of with the same reticle choices or close and IMO not built to NF standards.

If the problem is with the scope, NF will make it good, but I would check the rifle with another good scope.

What I mean by the scope's elevation does not feel as positive as the windage is that you get a nice crisp stop and an audible with the windage turret. The elevation turret does not do this too the same degree. The elevation turret is not mushy and it stops at each 1/4 MOA without quessing, but its just not the same as the windage turret. What got me asking questions about all of this was that I noticed that when I first started shooting this setup, I had 55 MOA of up travel. Now I only have 40. The scope total has 110, which is 10 more MOA that the published / advertised amount.
