Sheep hunt 27-1 idaho

I put in for 27-1 in Idaho, wondering if anyone has some insight on where to find the dang things. What do I look for mostly. I've elk hunted up there with no success an thought it looked more like sheep country than elk so I put in for it. I caught the sheep big when I got my desert sheep a couple years ago.
Used to guide the area. Horse country. Get up high, sun to your back, glass. I'd have to look at a map, but sheep numbers are not great up there but they stick around the same spot July through Oct/Nov. Scouting is worth it.

Thank you for the info! Trying to figure out when I can make a scouting trip!

I drew my tag for a Bighorn in 27-3 back in 1991, I believe it is next to or similar terrain as 27-1. I was 41 years old at the time and from training all summer with a 50 lb. pack on my back was in the best shape of my life since high school. It payed off, it took my partner and I 2 days to pack our gear and my sheep out to the trailhead (Hoodoo Meadows) where we were parked. We packed in 3 times from end of August through first week of October. We changed drainages we were hunting in because I was told by previous sheep hunters that if I was in ewes and lambs to move which we did and it meant going down and up and over into the next drainage. Advice payed off, on October 10th I harvested my ram.

Sounds epic! Dropping some weight and getting into better shape is definitely on my to-do list! Were the rams at a different elevation or just in a different drainage?

They were in a different drainage, I got some good advice from a friend that harvested a ram in that area before it was once in a lifetime, after that he took some friends and family in there to get their rams. He is the one that told me where to go. Coincidentally he drew a tag across rhe river in the Big Creek drainage the same year I drew mine. He ended up getting a nice ram on about the same day I shot mine. He was the first person I called the night after I got home. 1991 was the year of the firestorm, there was a lot of smoke but not in the vicinity we were, saw lots of fires burning while driving home. Another piece of advice I was given was don't be afraid to hunt the timber.

A good friend of mine drew the 27-1 tag for 2023 and we ended up killing a 165"-170" ram on day 7. If anybody needs some intel I'd be happy to share with you.
To say the least be prepared to hike. We went unguided and did not scout the area prior to flying in. We used e-scouting to our advantage and talked to every person we could think of to try and get intel.
Unfortunately, I am not an Idaho resident so my odds of drawing the tag are slim, but I'll keep trying!
