I've never had a 26 Nos... I tried to buy a Hell's canyon smoke, but Browning discontinued the rifle before my lgs got any. IRRC I told them I'd buy either a 26 or 28; it didn't really matter as I just wanted the rifle.
As to torching pipes and running them hard... I run my 7stw at just shy of 3400 fps with a 140 ab.. I suppose I could push it faster, but stuff dies well when I hit it and I might just get a few hundred more rounds out of her if I don't beat it within an inch of it's life. This is my 3rd 7stw barrel and I'm not keen on dropping coin on a 4th soon. The same goes for my 7rum; 3rd bbl... I'm running 175 eld-x at 2900 fps with her and she kills like lightning.
I suppose in a few hundred rounds I'll have to change the primary load I've put through my 7stw barrels for 20+ years... I'm not playing where's Waldo trying to find Accubonds OR rl25... I might look at Speer or Hornady. Heck, I've probably got 600 Sierra 140 pro hunters on the shelf and no rifle to shoot them in. I might run wc872 or aa8700 and those pills...

I picked one up a few years back in 257 Weatherby… the owner brought it into my shop complaining it wouldn't group like his other rifles. I asked him what he wanted me to do, he said if it don't shoot for me, how's it gonna shoot for you?
So I talked him into selling it to me less scope for AU$1000, which he agreed to happily.
He also dropped off all his brass, ammo and boxes of bullets a few weeks later. It didn't shoot due to his choices in powder and bullets, they were all varmint type bullets ranging in weight from 75gr to 100gr.
I shot a sub MoA 10 shot group with that rifle using factory Weatherby rounds in 110gr Accubonds. It shot very well and had had very few shots fired through it, just barely run in with about 60 shots fired by the gentleman.
I would buy it, but haggle on price, offer $300 less than advertised and see what you can get it for.

My buddy's Accumark in 300 roy is the same way. Mid weight factory stuff wouldn't shoot for anything in his pipe. 150's were more like a shotgun pattern. 180's were multiple moa. It was so bad the rifle was hard to sight in.
Well, he shot the rifle for a spell with factory ammo and got tired of it, gravitating back to his 270's. When he started talking of moving on I talked him into letting me help him load for it. He didn't want to buy dies on a gamble though (and I didn't load for the roy) so I neck sized some brass with my 300rum dies and played with the rifle a bit. With 220-225 grain pills and 7828 (tried rl33 but it was flaky in that rifle) I was able to get it to just over an inch at 200yds with a 2700 fps+ launch vel. on a mild enough load that it'll last him forever at the rate he shoots.

Some examples include the 6.5x284 Norma and 6.5x300 weatherby .

Nothing to do with being 6.5mm either.

But they TRANScend the limitations of being either metric or imperial!!!! 6.5 metric millimeters by .284" imperial inches. And so on.

Can't be just one thing. Identifies as both.

If you struggle to get brass, buy the more popular size and neck it up or down to get what you want.
The 264WM lost favour here in Australia about 20 years ago, no rifles, no ammo and brass has to be ordered and takes months to arrive… easiest fix was to buy 7RM brass and neck it down, use a mandrel and turn to clean it up and carry on as if it was made for the rifle.
Have done this without issue for a very long time.

Absolutely agree, built a 358 Norma Mag, and brass for it is near impossible to find and horribly priced, up size 300 wm brass push shoulder back, trim, and anneal to help brass last. Love the rifle and the process.

I bought a 26 Nosler Browning X Bolt a few years ago when Cabelas had it on clearance. Bought a few boxes of Nosler brand 26 Nosler ammo off their blem site. Shot the "blem" ammo (shot great) to zero scope and get brass to load. Loaded Barnes 127 LRX and harvested a mule deer in Wyoming.

However, Nosler seems to have abandoned the 26 Nosler - never ammo or brass in stock. Seems like Nosler puts a cartridge on market then supports dries up in a few years. I have reached out to Nosler but no responses to my email inquiries.

Powder Valley has 26 brass (Hornady) in stock right now, I'd say buy enough to roast the barrel then move onto a different round like the 7 PRC and make life easy...just a thunk

I'm not a huge fan of Weatherby rifles but I do love the cartridges. Currently have the 257 Bee in the Accumark, 270 Bee in a Win Model 70, 300 Bee and 340 Bee on a switch barrel Win Model 70 and another Win Model 70 in 375 Bee. All are customs built by me and are excellent shooters. Funny thing, the 375 Bee is a genuine 1/2 MoA rifle and so is the the 270 Bee, the others are under MoA which is adequate for hunting where I do.
The 375 is the original specs of Roys' with a 1/2 inch freebore, it gets velocities out of the 24" barrel it shouldn't.
