Wide spread Antelope winter kill in Wy this winter.

Im glad for you folks that your state actually takes care of its residents first. Here in PA they could care less about our own hunters, we give out around 150ish elk tags every year and non-residents have the same chance at tags as we do. Plus, if drawn the tags are dirt cheap compared to when i hunt out west. I have around 20 points now for PA and will most likely never be drawn anyway because they just throw your name in the hat for every point instead of drawing 1st from the top points holders. Our state is run by politicians if that explains anything...

Well, I guess I should have been more specific and said long compared to a lot of other western states.
We can actually hunt for elk starting with general archery starting on 09/01 in our part of the state and hunt continuously starting 09/26 with rifle until 10/31. If we are lucky enough to draw a late season permit for cows we can pick right up on 11/01 and hunt until 01/31…..

I doubt this winter will have any kind of profound effect on our elk herd but the deer and antelope will take hits in some areas of the state. The G&F department has been feeding and paying some ranchers to feed elk in areas where they congregate in years like this that they don't normally supplementally feed. You know the last two winters here were absolute non eventsin the western part of the state. This winter has been more like a "normal" winter if there is such a thing. I'm sure that there will be many people that are new here and haven't experienced a "normal" winter until now leave here for good this year…
And by the way, I hope they do lol. Because there's not many places to buy at all. We've been renting for over 4 years and the options are slim, and none. Maybe we can get a place one day.

Yes. I am in Star Valley, south of Jackson and a lot of the money is moving down here.
Homes and real estate in general have hit the insanity level

Those of us that stay here year round should be awarded some kind of sympathy or stupidity points……😂
Yes..and next door neighbors should get a decent price for a tag also.....we all fight the winters.....why not join MT WY ID and that portion of Oregon that wants to leave the ****poor Willamette Valley Idiots Club.....
That would make some superb hunting opportunities.....from Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean.....sweetness...

I've done a little work in the Freedom area.......might be a lot of work there this year....after my work hereabouts....

I saw a monstrous whitetail buck just north side of bridge over the Salt between Freedom and the GunShop.....huge ol' busted up bruiser.....antlers anyways...all whitetail look like they been hit with the ugly stick in excess.......lol

That's interesting. Most of the Whiteys I've seen have been a mile north or south of The Narrows, so probably 8 miles south of that or so.
It truly is God's Country here and I feel absolutely blessed to make this my home
