Youth Hunting - Part 1 - The Smiles & the Memories

These two young men here are our sons we adopted. It's been a few rough years getting them somewhat straightened out they had a rough go for several years . But that's neither here nor there . So proud of both my boys . The oldest one that is standing in the pic is autistic and loves to shoot . It's crazy how good of a shot he is also . Most days he don't know anything other than every single dinosaur that walked the face of the earth . But when we go shooting he's focused.
Both deer were shot with a savage axis in 350 legend. Both boys shoot it pretty well and it doesn't kick to much for them

My little freezer filler has been at it again. He's been patiently waiting for an 8 pointer all year and finally got him one. The smile says it all.

Moving my post over as I did not know about this one.
As mentioned on my post my boys are older now and I too have certainly been blessed .
My oldest Son Logan is 28 and a very hard core hunter.
My youngest, Noah is not quite as committed but has turned into a pretty good Deer hunter. However, he has killed a bull Elk witch is something his older brother has not done yet.
Big brother mostly hunts Elk with a Longbow that we built or his Kentucky long rifle with patch and ball.
The Elk packing crew for Noah,s bull is my two boys on the left and the other three are my Nephews. What a great day!

When I was a kid, my family didn't consider it a sport. It was a way of life. When it was huntin season, we were huntin. Starting with dove in September, ending with rabbit at the first of March, with a short pause till April for gobblers.

The rest of the year, we fished. No sports, no football, no baseball, no stupid golf.

The world is spinning so much faster these days……

I'm tryin hard to raise mine right.

As mentioned above, my boys are older now and my oldest Logan is the hard core one. I posted some photos on another post ( brag board for kids) from when he was a little younger.
These are up to present day.
He has always wanted to be in the woods.
He's still single and if not at work or sleeping then you will find him in the Mountains.

My son loves to hunt, fish, and also loves football and baseball. Definitely a tough balance but keeps us busy!

I read the news and watch the news every day and see kids involved in horrible things like drugs,killing and trying to kill people but thank you parents, I would say none of these kids being raised right will ever be involved in those sort of things!
Again,I Thank God and you hard working parents for raising your kids right.

So real quick I want to brag on my beloved wife here quick like . We raised our two biological sons to adults. Three years ago my wife said why don't we foster ? So we went through all the necessary steps and became foster parents. We got two brothers that at the time were 11 and 7 and after 6 months adopted them .
We've since had 4 other boys that have moved on in the system or went back to their families . The Thursday before thanksgiving the foster care place called and said they had a placement and ask if we were interested. Sure why not . A 7 year old boy and his baby sister . By the way first girl we've ever had and she has me wrapped around her finger . But any who . Through all these kids we've had we've had our fair share of calls from the school and bus garage , as many here could imagine . So this evening the bus driver text my wife . Hey just wanted to let y'all know today on the bus your 7 year old was going on about bible class and a high school student started asking him questions . Which in turn ended up to about half the bus including the bus driver talking about god and church . All because my wife takes them to church 3 times throughout the week and talks with them about it . And I say all this because I work away from home and stay out of town 5-6 days a week or more. She does an amazing job as mama always has and always will

My 13 yr old decided to leave the shot gun at home for the first turkey hunt of 2023.
It's only a jake, but he came in gobblin his head off, and my son, once more, has experienced the "mystical flight of the arrow ".

No such thing as "only" a Jake. Sounds like he had a great hunt and more experience to add to his bank of hunting knowledge ! That's great

Ain't that the truth ! You call any of them within range and it's a thrill like no other .

Gotter dun this mornin. This old Tom had given him the slip 2 times n the past 3 weeks. Including a miss with his bow.
He strutted in a little too close this morning.

@Muddyboots. He's 13 years old now and wearing a size 13 boot. He may give you a little competition in the near future!
