Gun for my wife

I remember a girlfriend of mine, who had zero issue shooting a 26" barreled 7 Mag, but hated shooting a 21" .243. "Recoil" wasn't the issue, it was the "blast" that she hated.
I dont care that people have a problem with it.

6.5 creed makes a ton of sense. Or 260 rem. Or if youre feeling classy and respectable a 6.5x55 Swede haha.

.25-06. 257 Roberts is a sweet little round too.
Upon further thought you must get the 6.5 Swede. No brake. Not much kick at all. Over a century of killing everything. Not hipster or hype.

As my 6.5 Swede loving friend says

"say no to the creedmoor. SHOOT THE SWEDE MORE!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

PLUS…think of the look on your lucky wife's face when you say "hey sweetie…I got you a Sweedie!" Or how she'll think you're just as funny when you say "here's your sweedie sweetie" for the thousandth time as she did the first time you said that… 😁

Yep, noise and muzzle blast are a no fly, in fact if you are not hunting the .223 is a good place to start, with a longer barrel and heavier bullets,, I would almost guarantee she's goin g to be impressed,,, so .243 or 6 mm, .260 Rem are all in the ball park.. with a 22 to 24" barrel.. and not to nock Savage,, but Tikka or something similar... a lot of it is feel, and something physically smaller will fit her better,, and the pink will finish off the sale...

But seriously, take her, and let her shoulder and operate all the rifles under consideration. I once bought a gorgeous old Browning with the Sako action and pencil barrel in 22-250,, it was the most beautiful, natural pointing rifle I have ever held or handled,,, yes I traded it on really, really nice 1956 Smith and Wesson 357 in a gold box,, and somebody else bought it before I could get back to "redeem" it...

if I were looking to build a wifle it would probably be something along the lines of a 6XC or 6BR

I started both my wife and my daughter on .223 Rem, then .243 Win. Both are now excellent shooters, and hunters. This year both got 6.5 CM's for their birthdays (Burris scopes). For their next step up I'm suggesting the 7mm Rem Mag., but we'll see what they choose. I'm very proud of them both, and love sharing our sport with them. My son too, but he is now in the Army in the Middle East. God bless you all!

All my guns belong to my wife. If I want a new one I just build it and tell her it is hers. I think she knows its a scam but she lets me get away with it. Any of the regular 6.5s will get her way out there without the stout recoil of a magnum. Creed, .260 or x55 all are pretty much same performance. The high bc will have her smacking stuff way out there even with some wind. They kill good too. 6.5 will take anything in the 48.

"anything in the lower 48"

Perhaps a bit optimistic! Certainly it can be done, including moose, bison, large bear…..but, it leaves very little room for error! 😉 memtb

My wife took over my 6.5x47 Lapua. 136 scenars at 2950 is easy on recoil and muzzle blast. Just got my 6x47 Lapua back from the smith and got told I'm probably going to get my 6.5x47L back……

Good problem to have in my book.
