Whats the cartridge you LOVE to HATE?

Let's be honest, everyone has one. Whether you had a bad experience or you just don't buy into all the hype, whats the cartridge that makes you roll your eyes as soon as you hear its name?
I thoroughly buy what folks say about the .380 but.......... (not in it's defense) I have to say that I've never seen 🥴 that didn't shoot great!

I agree...not much point in a full size or compact pistol. But the real point of a .380 auto pistol IMO is a very small deep cover pocket pistol designed to fire .380 can be made smaller and lighter than one built to fire 9mm. So it allows for a smaller and lighter gun.

270 back in the day was like the 6.5 Creed today. Seems like everyone had to have one; and at hunting camp if you brought out an ol 30.06 you were laughed at.

7 Rem Mag. Another end all cartridge. Buddy bought one during the hype stage. Sighting in one day I would watch him cringe every time he shot. Recoil had him "pulling" off target. After a box he asked did I want to try it. No way after seeing look on his face. After 2 boxes and no better than 4.5 moa he's done. I could've bought that gun for half price. He sold that gun 3 weeks later after another painful day at the range.

44 Mag in pistol platform. I do own a Henry and it's a sweet shooting rifle. Fun. Pistol length and it gets tough to hit what you're aiming at. More Hollywood hype

Yes…..but not significantly smaller than many of the new 9's available! memtb

True, depending on your goal. The Beretta Chetah is a neat gun. Yes it's too big for deep cover, but fun to shoot. Some people don't like the blast of a 9mm, but tolerate the 380 just fine.
Different strokes for different folks.

True…..but I have my standards! I don't want any woman that can't handle the recoil of a small framed 9mm! 😉 Same with rifles…..women's hunting rifles, should start at 30-06/7Mag, and go up from there! 😂 memtb

Find me a commonly available 9mm that is not "significantly larger" than the specs of my Ruger LCP that rides in a pocket holster and goes about everywhere with me.

I get that there are some small 9mms out there. But 25% larger and heavier, 30% larger and heavier, 35% larger and heavier makes a "significant" difference to me when pocket carrying with shorts and a t-shirt and a normal belt.

When I get down to the micro 380 size guns, they are at that size which doesn't require any change to a person's normal attire and it doesn't look really any different than a wallet. You go to the micro 9s, that changes for me.

My wife will shoot 375 H&H until the barrel melts. She loves it. 9mm not so much. She shoots her 642 38 special just fine. For her, I think muzzle blast is a bigger thing than recoil. She is a really good rifle shooter. She won a lot of matches at the local club level. She does struggle with handguns. I don't know why, no flinch, knows how to alight sights and trigger squeeze.
I guess it's because she is a woman. No figuring them out.

I guess my significant is significantly different than yours! Hell, that's so small ….I lose it in the pocket change!

We may have to look at that, my wife often doesn't carry because of the weight…..but, her (part time) carry gun is a Sig 938! memtb

I am old school and shot mostly magnum rifles...7mm Rem Mag and 300 Wby mag. But getting old now, I really enjoy shooting bug holes with my 6.5 PRC and a lot less recoil.

I should stay out of these conversations…..as there is a vast difference between shooting and hunting.

If I we're punching paper or ringing steel a lot…..it would be with a lighter recoil rifle. Until then, it will just be occasional bench work (zero verification), some informal "Outback Shooting" at the occasional coyote, and a little shooting at distance with my hunting rifle!

Simply can't afford nor have the time to get involved in "shooting "! memtb
