HBN Bullet Coating

I've used it for about 4 years now. Coated the bullets with a vibratory. Put 1/8th tspn into a pill btl, vib 1 hr, dump them back into their box & store. "I used to dump them onto a towel, roll & shake, I don't do that anymore". 1/8 tspn will do 100 small caliber "204", 1/4 tspn for large caliber "6.5 & up.
I use rubbing alcohol that is 90% or higher, mixed 1 tspn with a pint. After barrel cleaning, i run a couple soaked patches & then 1 dry patch. I'll take wet patches & coat over the bolt & rails & store.
When starting, reduce loads by a grain or so. Most guns, it will reduce velocity, but a few, it will increase! "Had a 7 mag that increased".
I'll never go back to shooting a non-lubed bullet! It's too easy to use! Cost is under $50 & will coat 4k to 8k bullets & a very simple process to apply!!

Should I do this starting on a new unfired premium match barrel? :D

Do y'all when lubing the barrel do it after every cleaning or how frequently?

Does anyone know of any toxicity that may come into play when using it in hunting rifle and the meat of the animal?

When we 1st started using it, was on used guns. My son & i bought 2 6.5 PRCs brand new. Started them right out with it. They are accurate & Fast!! Probably have 300 rounds down each. 1st shot cold bore is same as 3rd-5th-10th shots. It works for me.

I think cleaning the barrel to bare steel for the first layer is a good move. After that I would let the barrel sink into an equilibrium where the cleaning is only maintaining a certain level of copper and carbon. Reapplying the HBN as final layer each time.

Never thought about the toxicity. I don't want to live forever anyway...:D

It isn't like the lead bullets that I use in some of my rifles don't have toxicity lol. Just trying to figure out if adding the lube to the barrel puts me in the express lane to the grave

That's a valid point you bring up. However my luck is so bad I would take steps to prevent HBN poisoning and then get hit by a train...

First three rounds will be shoot one, clean the throat. Then it's on like donky kong! Whooop:D

I'm having great success with graphite so far. I'll stick with that and report. While I get some HBN enroute.
I jumped on the bandwagon and just ordered some HBN from bulletcoatings-dot-com. heading to Walgreens now to get some 99% IPA, sounds like a beneficial effort!!!

I found that I lost a little velocity as compared to uncoated bullets with the same charge weight. However I am able to get more velocity without having pressure issues as compared to uncoated bullets. More importantly ES/SD are less than uncoated bullets and groups are tighter with fewer occasional fliers. I use it on all my bullets anymore. I also use alcohol mix on a cotton swab to coat the inside of the necks when reloading.
