Mesa Altitude composite stock

Good evening,

I'm looking for any feed back on the Mesa Altitude composite stocks. If anyone has any first hand experience with these stocks, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.

Others stocks I'm considering are Ag Composites and Manners.

Great value. I slightly prefer the grip on my AG alpine hunter, but no true downfalls to the Mesa.

I had one but the drop at the top of the pad really caused muzzle rise to increase on my 300 RUM. It worked fine on my 30-06 though. I have big hands and I thought the grip was big. I really liked the forearm though. The bottom was nicely contoured where I held it just ahead of the front action screw when hand carrying it. I sold it because I had other plans for the 30-06.

Any issues with the stock being lite weight keeping them steady for longer shots or even ringing steel at long ranges?

I've had two…both for Zermatt/TL3 and the last was ordered little over a year ago and I had to open up the bolt area on both of them. Grip is a little too fat for me. Overall it's a good stock if it fits and you like it. Would I order another, yeah probably.

It's not a McSwirly or Manners though.

Just an FYI - if you decide to go with a Mesa, and if you are not in a big hurry to get the stock, Mesa Precision, Redhawk Rifles, and J&A Outdoors usually offer sales on them a few times a year.

Just sold a McMillan A3-5 to purchase my second Mesa Altitude. Love the weight, the rigidity, the fit and the finish of them. AND if you are military/police/fire and you call them they offer 10% off to ya for your service. I got mine shipped for 623.00 directly from Mesa and had it in about 4 1/2 weeks.

Here is my 65PRC with the Mesa. I really like the feel of this stock and how it points from standing or prone. I've shot many stocks that do one of them good but not necessarily the other. When I ordered I had asked them to do more Camo than normal. I also usually have a padded cheek weld ammo pouch on the butt stock. It's hard to be unhappy with this stock. It's every bit as nice as my Manners EH1's.

I have built many rifles for guys using mesa's carbon stock and they preform great. They are built by AG Composite for Mesa Precision with there own unique mold. MP then inlets the blank to your inlet ( Tikka, 700 clone ) I like them alot and they are awesome hunting stocks, even better yet a light weight back country hunting stock.

I have installed two. Both on Tikka 6.5 Creedmore T3 superlights. One had to be cleaned up a bit as there was a few machining chips inside the aluminum pillars. Not a big deal. They were just slightly heavier (less than an ounce) than the original Tikka stocks but much stiffer. Both guns shoot great. My only mild complaint is the large grip/handle. I'd like it a bit smaller but not a deal breaker. Great bang for the buck! Would buy again.
