I am in the market for a quality meat slicer and can't decide. I am paranoid because I have noticed the cheap ones have low rpms and it takes a while to cut a single slice and I imagine they bog down easily if you try to push it through too fast. I want something with plenty of power and rpms's. Not really looking to spend more than $400. LEM makes them but some have gotten mixed reviews. Looks like the only LEM meat slicer that looks interesting is the BIG BITE 8-1/2". It is 1/4hp and 532 rpm. Anyone have any experience with it or possibly something better?

$400 Never considered selling it really I've had about three years only used it a couple times and then I saw your ad

I have a fear that if I buy one, I won't use it much and I am just going through a phase. This has me even more paranoid about what to buy.

Is that the 12 inch commercial grade? Its a bit bigger than I was hoping but it will definitely get the job done. I was hoping to find an 8 inch because of limited space in my kitchen but so far I have not found anything smaller than 10 inch that looks any good. I may get back to you on that if you are not any hurry to sell. Like I said, I don't think I have the space to store it. It is something I would want relatively handy so storing it with my processing equipment is less than desirable for me. Do you know roughly the dimensions?

Yes it's big it's fairly heavy as well it's not going anywhere like I said I didn't really want to sell it but I saw your ad and thought well I haven't used it very much

@JimFromTN did you end up landing on a slicer? Im in the same boat as you...I want something good but have reservations since Ill only use it a few handfuls of time a year. Just curious to see if you picked something and if you are happy with your decision.

I ended up buying this
Amazon product ASIN B07TSDQB33
I wanted a much more powerful one but the good ones are big and I don't have the space. I also didn't want to spend $400 or more on it. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a commercial grade slicer. I am satisfied with it. I was willing to risk $100 and if it sucked I would toss it out. It does what I need. Its a little light and has suction cups to hold it and is easy to push around while you are trying to slice the meat. The great thing about it is that its extremely easy to take apart and clean.

Thanks for the replies. We have a Cabela's slicer similar to the one Jim posted...I have a feeling all the low range slicers are the same, heck a lot of them might be made by the same company which scares me. They all look very similar in design and materials used. The Cabela's one is beyond terrible, every slice you make for some reason doesnt cut the whole way through. The last 1/2-3/4" of the slice remains attached to your larger chunk of meat. Im not even sure how this happens but its on every slice you make. I too really do not want to spend upwards of $400+ but I might have to bite the bullet and do it to ensure I get a quality product.

That happens on mine when it gets to the very end of the meat I am slicing. Its usually to a point where you might get one or 2 slices at the very end and they end up stuck together by a small piece. Mine is definitely not the best. I can't get razor thin slices but they are thin enough. I don't think they are all the same, at least from the reviews I have read. I did allot of research on slicers ranging from $50 to $500. I picked mine based on the best reviews at the time. As mentioned above, cleaning mine is a breeze and that is not the case with all slicers in the $100 range. I don't know how the cabelas slicer works but the blade on mine come off with a flip of a lever and goes back on just as easily. Ease of cleaning is very important to me. I hate clean up. They can also very in wattage. Most are 200w in the $100 range. To get 250w, you will probably need to spend twice as much if not more. You want as much wattage as you can afford. I think if mine had a higher wattage, the blade would turn faster and I could get thinner slices. Like I said, I would love to have a big one but you can't just stick a big one in a cabinet to get it out of the way. I have an 80 pound 1hp grinder that is a big production to get out, use, clean, and put away. I have a big sausage stuffer that is the same way. I don't want to have to deal with that with the slicer. Mine fits in a cabinet.

Yeah you are probably right, there are differences between some of them but many I looked at in person are pretty identical. As for the Cabela's one, the blade has a "nut" that holds the blade on. Its not terrible to clean but its a really *** otherwise. Yesterday I was trying to slice some venison jerky strips and it was bogging down big time and I wasnt forcing the meat. No difference in performance between slightly frozen vs fresh...I got so mad at it I threw it right in the trash and just finished cutting by hand. Doing it by hand isnt bad but Im not the best at making sure thickness is consistent...thats really the only reason I want a slicer and the fact it will make quicker work of the cutting process.

Those $100 cabelas meat slicers don't have very good reviews. Also, they are 180w. I think optimally you want at least 240w but they are twice the price of a 200w. Mine is 200w and wish it was just a little more powerful. This is about the cheapest 240w I have found.

They also sell it on amazon for a little more money. Seems to have good reviews on both amazon and vevor.
