Looking to buy some bulk 6.5 Grendel ammo mainly for hogs. I am looking at various online buys. I have found a couple of interest. I know there is more but for now I am looking at Fed Premium Varmint/Predator 90 grain TNT Jacket HP (3000FPS on the box) and Nosler Match Grade 90 gr Flat Base Tipped Brass Varmageddon (2800fps, this one shows to be for target) I am mentioning these as the price is around $380 for 500 rounds. Anyone have any experience on either or any other suggestions? Thanks, Alan

I have killed a fair number of animals with Hornady SST 123 grain w the Grendel. 5 Pronghorn, half a dozen pigs, 1 whitetail, 2 Aoudad.

The internet tells me they aren't good bullets. My experience is that they work fine. Great in most cases.

The exit wounds on the Pronghorn were shocking.

Pigs all shot in the neck DRT.

Aoudad ram didn't take one step. Aoudad ewe shot a bit low, but still didn't go more than 5 yards before a second shot anchored her.

Whitetail fell DRT also.

I just loaded 100 more w 27.9 gr TAC. They shoot incredibly accurate groups. It's my favorite Grendel bullet.

Generally "bulk" ammo is FMJ or of the varmint variety. With the popularity in hog hunting exploding, that may change in the AR medium sized game calibers like ARC, Grendel, SPC. That would be nice to see. I have both a Grendel and an SPC, they have both taken medium size deer.

It really depends on what your goals are, for effective "hunting" ammo neither would be a great choice for hogs. As mentioned hornday lines are effective as well as many noslers. I shoot sst & ballistic tips (120 class bullets). The bigger the hog the harder the armor so shooting easily fragmented bullets through the shoulders isn't very effective. It doesn't bother me as sst & BT both fit that category - when hogs get to a size we shoot them so they go die somewhere else honesty. Like I said depends on your goals with the ammo and use. I personally didn't get a Grendel in pursuit of velocity, if that's your goal your options are pretty limited under 100 grain. Good in your journey;

Yes they work. It's not that people say they won't but compile enough kills, not neck and head cause a 22 will do that.
After you compile a large enough number you notice that certain bullets over all do so much better than others.
I've killed hundreds of animals with the Grendel. Other bullets have worked but as an overall the hammers, cutting edge, Barnes and partition are all vastly better when talking about the smaller round.
Let say this man is only ever gonna go on this one hunt. Wounded pig is a paid pig.
He shoots one, only one that he doesn't recover from poor bullet performance.
Now not only has he lot the hog but so much more money that spending a bit more for bullets.
I've been on to many trips with guys who bought cheap ammo. When it works they are kings of the bargain. But when it doesn't they now just spend lots of money to try and save a buck.
It's like not having house insurance. More than likely that works also but what if it doesn't work out.

I will second the ELD-M, these were all 6mm ARC ELD-M. I don't care to recover them, I want them to die, I just don't want the hassle of hauling them off.

I sold the ARC and I am building a 19" Grendel and a Howa Mini Grendel, 120/123ish ELD or TSX or other tough constructed bullet will be my bullet of choice. I will get plenty of data thru the next few months, pigs move up out of the creek bottoms and routinely tear up the garden, chicken coop and root around the feed/tack room.

I am using the 62gr TTSX and 62gr TSX loaded by Copper Creek in my Aero/AR15 Performance 7 twist 223 Wylde with the same results. In fact I haven't recovered a bullet yet and had multiple pass thrus out to 200yds. It's cheap and accurate and with a 1x and WML quite deadly combination in and around the house.
