I am thinking about building an upper for coyote hunting and am looking for a top-grade upper reciever. I was told to look for one that has a larger opening in the ejection port. Any suggestions about specific one for ARC or port size recommendations? TIA

I used the Noveske Gen III upper. It was a toss-up between that and the BCM Mk2. Both have the extra beef at the snout, figure, more stability. But the Noveske handguard matches the profile of the upper, and has that indexing pin that locates the HG on the upper for anti-rotate. So I went with the Noveske for my build.

16.7" HG.

I'm in the process of building one of these for daughter to hunt with. So far I've got the BCG, stripped upper, adjustable gas block, 20" barrel is being turned currently. I'll take any advice on this cartridge I can get.

Hope you are reloading. Though ammo is coming back. I've yet to see any 6ARC on the shelf.

A lot of to do in converting Grendel Brass down to ARC. Case formation is so nominal I created a hunting fireform load to save components.

Best brass I have is old 7.62x39 cases. Most case capacity and very durable. I like to work then towards failure.

Here in AZ there's been plenty of 6 ARC on the shelf. Mostly the Hornady black with the 105 hpbt. I do reload and will only buy the first round of ammo to get a feel for the rifle and procure the brass. I plan to handload either the 69gr absolute hammer or a 103gr eldx.

I havnt successfully been able to form brass for more than 3-4 firings. Lapua grendel brass and 7.62x39 both belted on me. It happens in some rifles and not in others. Hopefully I can figure it out. I am 20" proof I shot the 87 gr absolutes with pretty good success

Same with some Hornady Grendel brass.
Few discoveries.
Grendel to Arc
A). Anneal solved a lot of problems.
B). Lube. Full form 6.5 Grendel Die without depriving pin.
C). Don't add more lube.6 ARC Die with depriming pin. Slow stroke down and up motion, turning case 1/4 turn of case. After every slight down up motion.
D). If still having issue, remove depriming pin and try slow stroke up and down with 1/4 turn of case.
E). If you do D). After forming body of case into ARC, you will need to put depriming pin back to form internal diameter of neck to the right size.
F). Trim to length.

From 7.62x39
A). Anneal
B). Light lube. Run through 6.5 Grendel die. With or without depriming pin. I've had no issues with or without.
C). Don't add any more lube. Run through 6.5ARC die with or without depriming pin. I've had no issues with or without.
D). Trim to length.
(These will need to be fire formed more than Grendel cases).
