400 Yard Bear Hammer Bullet Recovered

Josh shot this awesome California bear at 400 yards with a 284 Win. and the 177 Hammer Hunter Bullet. The bullet was recovered in the opposite shoulder just under the hide. Congratulations on an awesome shot and bear.

This is what the bullet looked like before impact, entire nose of the bullet fragmented into the chest cavity as designed, the same way the Cutting Edge and Lehigh defense bullets work.

And based on my experience this is probably what the internals looked like, entrance followed by exit. Notice the 4 nose petal holes surrounding the main exit hole of the bullet shank.

Based on the picture I think not...
The front half of the bullet is not present in that picture. Shed petals. Broad wounding.

Also, provided it had this velocity when it hit, a completely flat faced fmj or solid in and of itself will do a lot more damage in transit through tissue than any spitzer type fmj. There's a reason they use exactly that kind of bullet (flat nosed brass solids) on big dangerous African game. They don't just poke a hole.
