Berger back order

I recently jumped on the 6.5 bandwagon and that involved getting on the back order for the new 156gr Elite Hunters. I realize my timing is pretty terrible lol. Originally the back order estimated delivery time was August. I recently got an email from opticsplanet saying essentially they don't know when they'll ship my bullets lol. Is demand that sky high right now or is there something slowing their production? Anyone have any inside information?

Good luck with optics planet -- they rarely come through with backorders-- they just keep pushing the Date further and further

Berger does "runs" of bullets and the demand for all components have been super high for the past few years. When components become available buy them fast and as much as you can afford. They go quick .

It used to be easy as lots of places allowed backorders-- no so much any more.

Remember too, Berger is now a foreign owned company. They are no longer a U.S. company even though they are located in the U.S.

The Board of Directors of NAMMO Group are the decision makers now.

We take great pride and tremendous pleasure in announcing that Berger Bullets has joined forces with the Nammo Group. This Norwegian/Finnish corporation is the home of a power house of premium brands including SK Rimfire Ammunition, Vihtavuori Powder and Lapua Bullets and Cases.

Skip Optics Planet and start looking at your LGS and more reliable sellers on the internet.

In Sept 2021 I placed an order at Creedmoor Sports for 400 143gr 6.5cal ELD-X. I forgot about the order and they showed up about 7 months later.

Doesn't appear they are taking backorders anymore. Too bad as they honored them.

My suggestion is to go to shootingbot.com and create a free account. Click on the buttons to lead you to 6.5 bullets and then refine further by searching for Berger 156. You'll get a list of most of the major vendors that carry reloading supplies and when they last had the 156s in stock. (It looks like Mile High Shooting two months ago was the most recent) You can set notifications for all the sites you select for whenever the bullets come back in stock. The site is run by a competitive shooter and seems to be the real deal and not a spam scammer or such.
Good luck getting some before hunting season.

Only problem with notifications these days is that often times the bullets are sold out before you even get the notification

During the Obama scare/era it was pretty easy to get on a back order list and still get components-- not many places do back orders any more

As noted above, most sites have quit taking back orders and have no means of telling when resupplies might arrive. The last vendor I had take a back order for me was Precision Loading from South Dakota.
Shootingbot's notifications at least allow me to consolidate my all notifications in one place and their telegram notices seem to get to me quicker and more reliably than the vendor notices. It also provides notifications from some vendors that don't offer notifications which might help with the availability issue after a notice.
Over the last couple months, I've managed to successfully get some of the pistol powder, bullets and primers that I was looking for but at cringe worthy prices. Supplies are still tight and waiting for supplies to show at the LGS wasn't working for me. This is just my personal experience. If other have suggestions to help the OP find the bullets, I'm sure they'll be appreciated. I certainly agree with the posters who suggested he give up hope on Optics Planet.

Contacted Berger by email. Looking for the . 277 170 grain EOL. They said that is a "hunting" bullet and is not scheduled for production until the fall when it's hunting season? Have not been able to locate any for almost a year.
