Problems with new gun

+1 ∆ Teslong flexible or ridgid, $60-$150 (with monitor screen) best and worst money you'll spend...also, you say "new gun" new to him, or brand new components built? ...rsbhunter

That would be a problem except for the fact that it shot 15 times and " no problem" . was the ammo the same handload, as I've never heard of 6.5 Max, ( but I'm old) as the first time. What were the group(s) like with the first firing? Being rechambered, have your gunsmith do a chamber cast..., but first order a Teslong bore scope....might answer all your questions.... Also, it is possible that if it had been shot a number of time, and then that the nitride process affected the stress in the barrel, but, you had the first good shots????rsbhunter

It AIN'T, the Brux Barrel,.. IT's "something",.. ELSE !
You have, an "Uphill battle" ahead to, step by step,.. LOOK AT,.. "Everything" !
Possibly, a MIS-aligned Chamber to Bore axis or, SCOPE "Issues" ??
Sorry,.. Good Luck !

I doubt that the scope is causing the bullets to go through the target sideways, UNLESS the bad scope is causing the bullets to be so far off target (low) that they hit the ground in front of the target, then bounce up and go through sideways. That would also explain why one bullet mushroomed before it went through the target. Doublecheck twist rate of barrel and make sure it is what is recommended for the given bullet weight, and as others have recommended mount a proven optic, and try again.

It has a muzzle brake radial one from gunsmith we did take it off and shoot same problem new adg brass he swap out scope no help barrel has been cleaned a couple of times reason he had it recrowned is that is the only thing we could see that might be affecting it I dont think it was rust not sure what it was maybe muzzle wasn't tight had carbon blow out between barrel and brake
Where in UT are you?

Idaho Lefty, don't believe it was the Brux barrel , at least as it came from the factory. But , since that time, it was chambered in one cartridge, shot ? How many rounds, rechambered, recrowned, and ???? There are a whole lot of maybes that in my mind point to either scope (had been swapped) or barrel, as I'm going on the assumption that it was the same ammo used both times. But, could be anything... Just built a custom 6mm Dasher, and Brux was my # one choice, but availability made me go with Bartlien....Next bbl WILL be a Brux........rsbhunter

One thing that can cause the bullets to "Keyhole" Or go through the target sideways is, Bore diameter too big. But I'm leaning towards crown, Brake, Threads not concentric to the bore.

15 years ago or so back when the 5.45x39 was becoming popular, US Barrel makers were chambering barrels that were made for 223 (.224 bore diameter) for 5.45x39 (.221 Diameter) Since the 5.45x39 ammo was .221 diameter the bullets were not accurate and would keyhole through the target, This is well known. Worn bores will do the same thing.

Agreed,.. I just HATE to see, Brux Barrels, being "Maligned" by people who know, next to Nothing about, Barrels.
Something ELSE,.. is Wrong.
THEY are, Top Notch and Hold,.. MANY,.. LR,.. "Records" !

I agree about falsely blaming ANY product...But, why the intensity of defending a very well know and respected barrel? I read Alot of articles and forum posts and have not seen alot of Brux haters??? Just seems over the top, for being a non issue? rsbhunter
