So, what is on the last patch or last couple patches you push through your bore?

Are you using IPA? Just std gun oil? Oil + a dry patch? Kroil? Kroil + a dry patch? Something else? Lighter fluid?

Why do you use your method?

How far is your cold clean bore shot from your 3rd or 4th shot down the barrel?

Most of the time I do a fouling shot if I'm at the range on a clean bore. Then a couple of patches of gun oil and then a dry patch.

After a good cleaning I spray G-96 in the barrel and run a patch through. When taking the firearm out to shoot I run a few dry patches through. After My first foul shot the second shot is almost the same hole. The third shot is in the second shot's hole.
When hunting I always shoot three before the hunt and then leave it for the rest of the hunt until I take an animal or the hunt is over.

After cleaning, I wash the bore with alcohol. When dry, I burnish in dry WS2 (tungsten) with a dedicated bore mop.
It's a pre-fouled condition that I store all guns in. Fully ready for use.
Mike, will any of the WS2 on Amazon 1 micron or 0.5 micron work?

I use mostly BoreTech products which supposedly have a protective quality when left in the bore. If I will be shooting the rifle again within a week or two, I just leave the residual BoreTech in the bore.

If the rifle is to be put away for any period of time, I run two patches of CLP down the bore followed by two dry patches to eliminate any excess.

After cleaning i run patch or two of ballistol down the barrel then usually one patch dry before I shoot the next time.

My last patch after cleaning is just wetted with gun oil. So little difference in clean bore fouling shots I've quit taking fouling shots.

Does anybody still use R.I.G.? My father in law, who taught me about firearms and hunting always used it to wipe down the firearm with after cleaning. When I'm not planning to shoot a rifle for a while, I'll run a patch of R.I.G. down the barrel. Then later, before I shoot it, I'll run a dry patch through it.

Not one of my center fire rifles shoots well when clean. They like being dirty. I'll clean a rifle up good after a shooting session then after I get clean patches out of the bore I'll run a patch through with gun oil to suppress rust, just in case it sets in the safe for a while. I leave them all this way. Then before another range session or hunting trip I will run a dry patch through the bore. I am lucky and can shoot at the house and will put 2 fouling shots through it, then off to the range or the hunt. I bought a bunch of pulled bullets on-line just for my fouling shots. I load them with my normal loads. This has been working for me for years and years. I also have a small reloading bench mounted into a trailer hitch insert on my truck. At the range I have solved mysteries involving accuracy issues with this set up just to change bullet seating depth.

What I've been using forever now is 'tech grade' 1.7micron from Rose Mill.
This sample container will last you 16 lifetimes:
Today, there are plenty of places to get WS2 cheaper. Just google it
