Arizona Deer Hunt Draw has started! 😃

Whitetail, 24B for me in early November. I'll be hunting with family I haven't hunted with since the 90's, but 24B holds a special place for me, as I grew up trapsing those mountains. I'm excited to be back hunting in AZ this year. It's been a long time.
Isn't the little town of Crown King up top that area ? West side of Hwy 17 . Had a buddy that him and I rode quads all way to top on forestry road while the ladies drove the pavement up to top.
We spent the weekend at one the cabin rentals. A little bar there and a small restaurant. The restaurant had a big 3 cylinder 2 stroke train engine in middle that the crankcase was emptied out. That was where they cooked your steaks, etc.. It was pretty cool. Had a great time.
I might be thinking of a different unit🙄

I think that's actually 20A. Surprisingly, I've never been in those mountains. Passed them many times headed to 5B South, 23, and 22 for elk or mule deer. 24B is east of Apache Junction predominantly and skirts the bottom side of the salt river chain.

I'll be with my son in law in 29 early November. There is plenty of good access in 29 and lots of good water sources this year with all the monsoon activity. I didn't draw a tag for the first time in 30 years. Doesn't look like there will be any leftover tags either.

Ok
Gotcha. I've hunted 23 trice for coues deer. Last time 2018. Late hunt. Ive hunted 5BS for archery elk a few times. Turkey twice. Have hunted 5BN archery elk many times. Love that unit. Have arrowed 5 cow and one buii there. I couldn't even draw it with 14 points anymore . Burned points on a late rifle hunt in 4B. Have too many points in too manys states. I'll never be able to draw them all before I die !

I've hunted the Oct., Nov. and Dec. Hunts in 29. All good. Whitetail Canyon was always good to me I'm the Chiricahuas. 😉

I just put in for points this year, again. Still need to do the "Ethically Hunting AZ" course.
You be in hog country. I took a one day hunter safety class years ago in Kingman. Perminat point. If I buy a Licence and apply for point or hunt "every" year...🙄 I'll keep my dedicated hunter point for each species. What a racket...🙄 Nv. and Ut. got rid of it. Wy. went to every other year for non res.. money maker for them.

It ain't much, but its mine.. Wish I had started a little earlier in life, but never a better time then now. I still need to figure out when to apply for spring bear.

I wanted to ask if anyone here has any experience with the HAM hunts. They seem pretty interesting. I need an excuse to setup a .357 mag I have for hunting.. Well, I guess I don't need an excuse 🤷 lol

I've hunted Javelina this way! We use piglet distress calls to get them in close.

Here's a video I've seen before and is what swayed me to try it. This method has worked 2x for me. After you find them is when you use the call to bring them in close. Don't just arbitrarily start blowing the call. Locate them and the get you setup figured out and then call them in.

Oh yeah. We used standard varmint calls as well. They do A or B, there is no C. A is run straight for you like in the video. B is run away as fast as they can. Usually, it's almost always A. Personally, I could never do that without standing on a tall boulder, lol. They come in ready to mess something or someone up.
