Arizona Deer Hunt Draw has started! šŸ˜ƒ

Watch out for illegals and coyotes. 2 legged kind. Carry a pistola ...

Yup, we always carry a sidearm, and in all the years we still haven't come across a single one.

There is way too much border patrol presence down by the border now, both maned and unmaned. But we never take chances, you never know. Thanks

I have a buddy who archery deer hunts area 23 mostly. He's sent me videos of black bears climbing his tree stands up to platform. He used to carry a 9mm. Now a 10mm. Good idea for lions also. A lot in Az.

I hunted area 29 a few times . Back in the 90's. The Chericowas. Can't remember who to spell. Great coues hunt late season. Never saw any "migrants" PC for illegals .

The Chiricahuas have some very nice coues bucks, hard to hunt now, lots of private land blocking access to the BLM and National Forest lands. You have to hike in all the way.

Most ilegal immigrants come in through the Tohono O'odham reservation now, less police presence.

About 15 or 16 years ago my dad had one lone migrant come by his camp, he gave him some water and food, and he wanted to turn himself in. With no phone signal there back then, he showed him the road that lead to a border patrol vehicle a quarter mile away. You can't transport them, even to turn them in, it's a crime, so he showed him the way.

My buddy hunts 36B. He found a bale of weed that had been there a few years. Had one coyote show up in his tent trailer with a broken leg. They found him about lunch time at camp. They were a bit surprised. Of course the tent trailer had guns tucked under sleeping bags, etc. Wowie. CPB was glad to pick him up.

Just need to be careful, you never know.

Whitetail, 24B for me in early November. I'll be hunting with family I haven't hunted with since the 90's, but 24B holds a special place for me, as I grew up trapsing those mountains. I'm excited to be back hunting in AZ this year. It's been a long time.

Hope your hunt is a memorable one.

Good luck! Hopefully it hasn't changed too much since the last time you were there.

Pretty rough territory with only one major switchback road that loops around the whole mountain range, so getting a couple canyons back should still be an option to get away from the crowds around the main road. I've only hunted it once in the last 22 years, in 2012. We had the early whitetail hunt, and a full moon was on the second day. It was a tough hunt that culminated in a last day, difficult shot on a nice buck with gusting winds up to 50 mph, steady around 25. It's actually the picture I have on my website and was sentimental in many ways as that was the last time my father was able to hunt the way he always taught me as a kid. He's had spinal issues that kept him mostly along the roads in the following years, and now out of the woods altogether, unfortunately. Hopefully, I can get him to at least come along on the trip to enjoy camp stories.
