Thoughts on this. Just picked it up on ebay. 25 bucks SS rails, pressed in bearings.

Simple is effective. The only issue you may have is the pressure of the indicator making the nose of the cartridge bob up and down as you rotate it with your fingers. I would take and old wooden ruler or something similar and put a big rubber band along the edge, then you can get several rotations of the cartridge using the ruler like a bow on a violin.
 
You can supposedly straighten a bullet. That does not work.
Bearing surface is rim, I don't think that is good. specially the ones I've just ripped chunks out of.
 
Cant prove it, but I believe rims are not concentric.
Hey, put some brass on your tool with gauge riding on rim, lets find out.
 
That's a similar idea to sinclairs.And mine showed much more spread than my friends Hornady testing same cartridges
