Sherman Wildcat Reloading Data is Here!!!

ya, thats pretty slow. I shoot 150 LRAB in my 270 SS at over 3100 with RL26 in a 21" Brux
About 58 grains of 4831 might do better than H1000 but I would start at 56 and work up. you might even try 54 grains of 4350?
What brand is your barrel?

It is a preferred carbon barrel. I'm loading 4831 and 4350 tonight and will report back with what I find.

The H1000 didn't pressure out, but the capacity at 62 was compressed and I didn't want to go any further.

On another note, I am changing my 338ss load from H4350 to Varget. Planning on starting low, 53 grains, and working up from there. Any qualms with that charge?

No, thats plenty low even with a 250

To not derail this thread even further, I have created a new post for my 270 SS. @elkaholic , the H4350 was the ticket. I got up to 3149 but with an ejector swipe. Will hopefully find an accurate load somewhere in the 3050 range.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and figured i reach out and see everyones advice for puting together a 300 SS.
I have an ARC nucleus short action and was planning on purchasing a
preferred barrel prefit
ss brass
sizing dies
magnum bolt face
I have been reloading for a few years (all standard cartridges) but wasnt sure about resizing the neck. How does it affect the life of the brass and will I need to aneal it?

Necking down will not affect brass life and it comes annealed. You wouldn't really need to re anneal right away.

@elkaholic

what's a good fireforming load for a 28SM using 185s and either H1000/Retumbo/N570 (among a few others)? I was thinking 65gr of H1000

I necked sized 30SM brass down using a 314 bushing and will jam the bullet about 10thou.

I guess necking up is more of my concern (as I don't have any experience in it) from my understanding I'll have to neck up 7mm to 30 cal brass for the 300 SS; should I be concerened about having enough material to increase the diameter and or is it inconsequential. My guess is I just run it through the resizing die, fire form it with a light load, bump it back and work up my a load as usual?

I have put together data from the many shooters that emailed/PM'd me. Here is what I have so far but I am still asking for more data to be PM'd to me so I can continue to add to this.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this.
As always this data is for specific rifles and should be worked up to find what is safe in your rifle.
can I get some Data on the 6.5SS? I'm rebarreling my 6.5 PRC, and i need a starting point. I'll be using 140gr RDF, 145gr barnes match burners and 147 ELDs.
