Thread locker on barrel threads

I finally pick up my suppressed yesterday after being in jail for 120 days. This is my first can. The guy at the shop said I need to use Rocksett thread locker on the threads of the barrel because of the heat off the barrel and torque if down to 30 ft/lbs.

How many of you use a thread locker on the threads and is it necessary to use it? I understand torquing it down.

Do you mean on your mounting system or direct threads of your can?
On the mounting system yes, or it will come off. I don't permanently mount my cans at all. I use them on multiple guns.

What can did you get and how does it mount?

For a suppressor mount, I've had 50/50 success with Rocksett and 100% success with red Loctite.

Then yes you should rockset it.. unless you plan to use it for another weapon... if that gun owns it, mount it permanently.

Send us pics of the set up. Make sure to use a small amount of antisieze on the can. I've had one stuck once or twice . It sucks

Waveslayer, here are pictures of the can and the components it consists and how it's put together. I did buy this suppressor for this gun, only, Ruger 5.56 MPR. I not saying that it won't see another gun. But I would like to know that everything will come off if I wanted it to come off without to much trouble. And what type of anti seize do I use on the other threads? The grey messy stuff I would use on nuts and bolts or anti seize I would use on my muzzloaders?

Just about any high temp anti seize will work, a little bit goes a long way. Clean it off periodically and reapply as needed.

Just use loctite on the muzzle device. All others you should be good and yes, same Grey messy crap. Use little. Looks super fun!!!! You can always buy more muzzle devices! I love it

We have several YH cans with the QD and mounted the Flash/Brake QD with Anti Seize on the threads and torqued it. Never had a problem with it coming loose. If you are going to use "Red Loctite" be aware that that QD Flash/Brake may be on your rifle forever. We had a RRA with a factory Flash/Brake and it would not come off. RRA had a practice of using Red Loctite and said to use heat to get the Flash/Brake off. Didn't work. Sent the Rifle back to RRA and spoke with the tech working on it. He twisted the barrel trying to get it off. They gave me a new barrel.

Yep! I check mine after x amount of shots.

I've had a dozen or more muzzle devices attached with red Loctite and they've all came off easily with a little heat.

I've been using suppressors on all my rifles for the last 25 years in the UK and never used locktite or any other thread lock.
Also never leave the suppressor permanently fixed the the end of the barrel as the gas left in the suppressor will corrode the crown of the barrel I have seen lots and lots that have done so and had to be re-crowned.
