Tree Squirrel Rifles

Two of my other favorites for light woods work. My two Winchesters; 9422 and 9422M in .22 S, L, LR, and .22 Mag both are superb shooting rifles. Both are 1972 Cheers

I have a 9422, too, but I haven't actually taken a squirrel with it yet. It is nice to carry.

The only thing I don't like about your 457 Varmint, the only thing, is the extra weight. It must be wonderful on the bench. Wonderful too, braced on the trunk of a tree. Just not wonderful to carry very far.
Its not terrible for a rifle, but pretty heavy for a hunting rimfire I feel. Should be right under 8lbs with everything on it. I replaced all the plastic on the rifle with aluminum parts too. I bought it for both target shooting and hunting, so I did have to compromise somewhere. Its definitely a shooting off the knee/tree branch rifle for long shots. Here a link to everything done to it and a range report or two: https://www.okshooters.com/threads/here-it-is-cz457-build-and-range-reports.305211/

Bergara BMR.
A little late but finally got around to taking a picture of my model 52B custom grade Winchester I ordered new a few years ago. It sports a match barrel hand checkered premium walnut stock with ebony wood endcap custom inletted sling swivels checkered steel gripcap and buttplate, external adjustment screws for overtravel and pull it does have a place for a rear target sight but at the time I decided to put a Simmons Atec scope on it. It felt so good I just left it on there. I guess I should mention it shoots as good as it looks.

Your 52b appears to be a substantial rifle. With the match barrel, how much does it weigh?

I used this for years for Gray's in NY. I was getting my limit to fast so I decided to take my pistol. Rifle - 6 shots, 6 squirrels. Pistol- 8 or 9 shots, 6 squirrels.
BTW, I went back to a 4x scope, the higher X was too much. Rifle is jc Higgins, bought 1957 (Marlin 81).
In College, I shot on a pistol with this Browning Challenger (1965) shot a 298 score one time with it. Pistol now has over 50,000 rounds fired. Mostly Remington Std. Velocity.

NIce, I have a jc Higgins model 50 , fn Mauser I think , in 30-06.
I have a better chance throwing rocks than shooting a pistol !
