For those of you running an AR10 in 6.5 Creedmoor, how far do you set the shoulders on your brass back?

I never have. Using an Aero M-5, I figure the bolt mass and velocity will jam the cartridge into the chamber. I set my F.L. re-sizing die over a 1/6" from contact with the shell holder, five years in, this has never been a problem yet.

I tested .005" setback after annealing for reliability purposes. On the second firing I have not seen any signs of impending case head separation.

What I have noticed is that I had to tune my load quite a bit with once fired brass.

Does your Aero M-5 have the 24" barrel? If so what velocity do you get with factory 140 grain bullets?

By chance are you in Bisbee Arizona?

I have a 20 inch Criterion hybrid barrel.
I handload for accuracy, not velocity, estimating my velocity by bullet drop not a chronograph. 140s fly around 2600 fps.
Bisbee AZ is my home.

If your barrel is like mine with the only difference being 22", does you gas system have standard rifle length? I've been trying too get it to quit popping primers from factory ammo (hornady 123 amax). The only 6.5creed barrel I never had to tune is an AP barrel (18, 20 and 22" with standard rifle length system).

I have a superlative arms adjustable gas block and rifle length gas system. It just works well.

The AP barrels don't have an adjustable gb on them, but the proof, cbi, faxon, bsf and 1 other have rquired agb for best function, ven with the +2 gas. What buffer weight are you using?

Oops, my barrel is 22 not 20 inches. Your post started me thinking mine was 22", so I checked.
I have 22 as well. When I chronograph factory Hornady ELD 140 grain ammo I get about 2650-2700 FPS. Way less than what is advertised on the box. I tried multiple powders with that bullet and could not get that bullet to shoot without getting pressure signs. A-TIPs work a bit better.

I can't help but wonder if I would not get better results with a 24" barrel. I noticed that Aero Precision & Stag Arms offer rifles with the 24" barrel. How do you like your Aero Precision? Does it function well?
