Hi, I'm wanting opinions on the best rifle sling for carrying a heavy rifle on my back angled and it not sliding down with the butt stock out infront of me. I have a normal sling but cuts into my neck when I carry it angled across my back. I prefer it angled on my back when walking. I won't be wearing a backpack also. Thanks.

2500 lb mule tape doubled, after you kill an elk , remove mule tape ,tie elk legs back to tree limb or brush ,to make gutting easier.

Canhunter35's recommendation. I like Outdoor Connection's Backpack Sling when I'm not carrying my pack and want maximum climbing freedom. Doesn't sit angled across your back as you're doing but instead has split shoulder straps to carry like a pack.

A backpack or biathlon sling with two straps
There is only one problem with a biathlon harness.
you must mount a Alu.rail to your stock and drill holes in the butt for the allistic cords(you can loosen the butt plate and pinch them there)
Then there is the price, going to cost you near $200 for everything(I have one on my Coyote rifle)
You can get everything from Altius Endeavors in West Yellowstone,Mt

I said either or, there are backpack slings that'll attach to anything, I have mine on a qd mount on the side of the stock so it lays flat, can just hook to a sling stud too. Heck if the op wants I can make him one out of leather like the one I have

What does this cost?
I actually don't know, my hunting buddy bought this sling when he bought himself one and gave it to me, so I don't think it was too expensive that he impulsively threw two in his cart and was like he'd like one too, and just showed up one day with it. I could make a leather one for $200cad, whatever that converts into us dollars

the ultimate sling

the rubber 'bounce' helps it feel like you're carrying less weight. you can also split the sling for a very secure carry.

when it's on one shoulder, any sling for that matter, the "sling saddle" will keep it on your shoulder and on your back hip so the butt doesn't swing around

I assume (always dangerous) that the only purpose for this "sling" is as a carry strap, that you do not use a sling as a shooting support?
