Muddy. I related this on similar thread another time.We had local warden, bear cage parked on bridge so it had only one direction to go.Warden on cage lifting gate, in back of pickup.Soon as bear cleared it turned and pulled cage and warden down.On the wild ride the warden fired off his service 357 killing G bear.If i remeber they might had a photo ?

Wow! you guys have successfully resurrected a thread older than most dogs. I'll bite though. I will use deadly force in any encounter where my life, or the life of those around me are threatened. Man or beast, it doesn't matter. Others have varying opinions about the use of deadly force, but I am good with this.

That's 1 of the 73 documented handgun cases in this link I posted earlier. Scroll down and read through some/all the cases if you can. You'll notice that at NO time did a handgun "make the bear madder" as so many lefty bearspray articles tout astruth. In fact, even the cases when the shooter never hit the bear, only 1 time did the bear continue the attack, while there are numerous cases when spray missed (and some when spray actually hit!) and the attack either continues/escalates, and more than once a gun had to be used to end the battle. Statistically, you are safer with a handgun with BLANKS (bullet didnt hit bear) than a can of spray. Think about that if "nonlethal" is important to you. Saying spray is more effective than bullets is exactly like saying a rape whistle is more effective than a gun, and the bear cant even take your gun and use it against you like a rapist might

Also, notice that most cases the bullet placement was not in the head, but all the bears stopped or paused when hit, allowing further action if needed. Big bore bullets at point blank hit hard, combined with muzzle blast at a few feet is effective, period. 4 legs or 2.

If bears are so averse to capsaicin those lefties you mention could just douse themselves in hot sauce, make themselves inedible right?

On the other hand maybe there's the odd bear like me that loves hot sauce…good experiment idea, but again, let the anti gun people try it haha

They actually do something similar for sharks, I would prefer a cage or being in the boat.
What! You'd think if it even took one big chomp and decided it wasn't for them it would still defeat the point of deterrent 🤣. I love sharks…and living in Saskatchewan, about as far away from sharks as can be haha
