Tool for measuring from the bottom of the lock ring on a full lengths sizing die to the bottom of the die.

Because the last 1/2 inch of a Redding die is machined off, you can't use the top of the caliper and lower jaw. I'm spinning on what tool would work and haven't found one. Anyone have a solution?

I'm just trying to find a better way of bumping my shoulders back consistently without resorting to trial and error. Lapua brass is neither cheap nor abundant. The depth mic is the best solution. I tried flipping the calipers over but it wasn't consistent enough. Thank you!
 
I put 2-3 dots with a sharpy on die thread,at lock ring space, to adjust and moniter sizing.Then checking with my comp.

I just used feeler gauges on shell holder tonight on the FA coaxial M press.... works great.

I use the redding competition shellholder sets . it's the easiest way to make small consistent adjustments .

or for measuring this ; if you have a dial indicator use it with a magnetic base . set up on top of your press with the dial ind. stem on the die top . zero the dial ind. turning the die , up or down , can be measured with the dial ind. you don't need a million dollar dial ind. , and magnetic base for this . an econo one with a 1" travel would be ideal . there was a couple dial ind. for sale on the forum , I can't remember what they were .

took me over an hour to find that video ! LOL

It's a cheap way instead of mic dies. I hope I can get Reddings add on mic soon. They said 3 weeks sending them out to retailers. I have notify by email from at least top 5 vendors. I would make this jig, but I don't have the means.

I made this and tested it with a pin gauge

If you don't have more tools just insert a platform piece of metal across the die base and do the + - math
