Range day with the 300 ultra.

I have RL 23 and 26 I was thinking about trying with the 168 ttsx.

The stock looks and feels like a McMillan but is actually a small out fit up here in Canada called Custom Carbon Stocks.
I can't tell the difference between the two.
If you would I'd like the contact information and web site for these stocks. THanks

Well got out today for the first time with the new to me Rem 700 ultra. I just had a new stock put on it after I bought it used and today it worked great. I also put a new scope on it and I went with the VX-5 HD 3-15x44 wind duplex reticle.
This rifles is factory barrel with the action trued and a trigger tech trigger and I had a brake installed. Total package 9.4 lbs
The load I had best group of the day which was
99 gr of retumbo , 215M , ADG brass , 168 ttsx seated 0.114 off and getting 3478fps Group was shot at 200 yards.
I ran it up to 3600 fps with 102 gr but after 99 gr groups opened up.
I guess I will see if load repeats it self which I'm sure it will. View attachment 333521View attachment 333522
With factory barrel I was running 98.0 hrs. Retimbo with 185 VLD Hunting and 180 Barnes TTSK. Very accurate . New Bartlien barrel. N570 and Berger 215 worked so good I haven't tried any other powders. Also Fed 215 but match and ADG case.

Let's see your Ultra's . I rebarreled with a 28 in. Bartlien 5R varmint contour barrel. Action trued. Bigger recoil lug. Better firing pin spring. Replaced my Timney trigger with a Trigger Tech. Had a HS precision stock I liked but replaced with Stockeys thumbhole. Cerikoted sniper gray. VX6 4x24x52 with CDS set up for Berger 215. APA gen. 3 answer brake. That's about all I can remember right now.

Do you have a extended mag box ?
The factory one is pretty short. Couldn't run the 168ttsx at 0.080 off and had to seat them to 0.114" to fit in it.

What velocity are you getting with the 215's in the 28" barrel ?

My 300RUM is so new I have only fired 40 rounds through it. I am impressed with it's accuracy for such a big boomer. It definitely kicks in a 7 1/4 pound base rifle weight, even with a large scope on it.
I am switching scopes to a 4.5-14x44 Leupold as soon as it arrives. I have one of my spare F-class 4.5-27x50 scopes on it at present, it feels so unwieldily.

Cheers.

I like that stock!!! Also interested in your velocity/data for the 215s.

I am currently only at 2998 FPS with them in a 27" tube. N570 and ADG brass. This barrel is SLOOOOOWWW.

245s are at 2832 FPS with N570.
