What do you use to clean

I really partial to Bore-Tech Eliminator for the bulk of my cleaning and will use their specialty cleaners(carbon, copper) for special situations. If storing the rifle for any extended period of time, after cleaning, I will give the barrel a quick swab of Montana Blend Bore Conditioner.

There was a product out of Canada about 15 years ago that was called Extreme Copper Melt. It was very expensive but was the best stuff I have ever seen for removing copper fouling. It was a small outfit and I guess they didn't stay in business. It was a shame because that stuff was fantastic

Boretech Eliminator, one product that does everything. However when cleaning a muzzlebrake or suppressor adaptor I tried Eric Cortina's suggestion and used CLR in a container with the brake submerged and in 2 hours all the carbon is laying in the bottom of the container with NO scrubbing. He said do not leave it in the container overnight or discoloration of the metal finish can occur.

How do you clean off the CLR? I've seen a few videos of people using CLR to clean breaks and stuff. What do you use to get it off? I would not think washing it off with water would be a good idea

Hoppes bore solvent, sometimes Kroil depending on situation. Wipe out is the ultimate when I'm serious.

Used to use sweets just a little harsh i feel like butchs used to be great when it had amonia....now all i use is kg and it is was faster at cleaning a dirty gun kg 1 for carbon kg12 for copper sometimes hopes after to neutralize it then oil and done. There is a chart floating around somewhere that shows how much copper all the cleaning products really get and kg 12 was way higher then all of them by a long shot

Pretty partial to boretech products also!!
I first use clr but not in moly barrels…..yet….kinda skeered too. I've left my muzzle brake in the clr over night and yeah, etched it a bit, little 000 steel wool and it's like it never happened!

As others have said, I have found Bore Tech Eliminator to be the best.

Used Butch's for a long time. It seemed to be a weaker formula. Have been using Eliminator for about three years. No complaints.

I've used 3 different one's I think. If you read the can they are all pretty well formulated the same.
The trick is getting that little tube well down into the chamber.
Personally I don't mind it getting into the action as it will run off and is very easy to clean up.
I don't follow directions though. I stand the gun muzzle down on a paper plate with some paper towels so I can see exactly what's coming out by the stains on the towels.
When I'm done I'll usually gust hose things off with gun blaster or something like that, wipe it all down good with a light coat of oil and I'm ready to go again.
When necessary though I'll break up the Copper Killer or Carbon Killer if things get really bad.

Flushing with Water works fine.
Prior: Hoppes #9, Hoppes BR, Sweets, and J-B with Kroil (nylon and copper brushes).
Current: Boretech Eliminator, Boretech Cu+2 and J-B with Kroil. Mostly just using Eliminator once everything settles in (nylon brush only).
