The DE 338 was back into the action last nite whilst out glassing for Fallow.

I arrived after 5 pm and whilst getting my gear out of the car spotted these spotty little deer staring me down from a distant ridge.

Quickly ranging them at around 400 yards, I decided to climb the hill and stretch it a little.

Well I could back up only so far until I got to 626 on the first one.

PDA was flat.. bummer ! Pulled out my leupy tape, then knocked off .75 moa for angle of shot and up draft.

Wind from 7 o'clock 5 mph so dialled 1 moa left. cos.99 downhill BOOOOOOOM.. WHOOOSH .. WHOPP !

MAN DOWN , MAN DOWN !!!!!

The second one ran up the hill about 100 yards.. turned around and walked all the way back down the hill to deliver CPR to his fallen comrade.. Big mistake ! Settled in.. 2 clicks down.

Hold dead on.. BOOOOM WHOOOSH... WHOPP !!

Down he goes !!

Two nice eating size Fallow spikes shot 2 min apart. Both one shot a piece at 605 & 626 yards.

How could I contemplate updating my rifle ? I still dont know myself !

Hope you enjoy the read !

Cheers

Well then if that's the road your heading down then...sell on. Who wouldn't want 400 more fps. Better have him thread an extra barrel while your at it.

That would probably be the first down under wouldn't it? Oh, Oh yes now I see it BRAGGING RIGHTS.:D

Mag,

When it comes down to it, it's just about prestige, bragging rights and ego !!

You'd better be careful or that may end up as my signature line...I like it!!

It's so true...who cares about modesty anyway.:D

wow DUH you are a killing machine with that Edge! Consistantly getting it done. How much practice shooting do you?

Either which way I guess. Looks like your having alot of fun with it. How do you like the Ghille suit? I see from some of your other pictures that you use it alot.

Sexy one,

The ghille is a great bit of gear for the static ambush, although I do seem to be getting further and further away from them lately !

The suit is homemade and really allows you to make some mistakes and get away with them.

Squirrel,

I hunt all the big stuff. Six deer species and Buffs , pigs etc. This long range stuff is a sickness that just wont quit !

We hunt pigs here in California.
How is the population of hogs down there?
How big are they?
I have a 300 win mag that has a 8x32 NXS Nightforce so I know what you mean about the sickness. Seems that each long shot makes you look for the next one just a little farther away.
