For those who have used canned NFA trusts and "haven't had any problems with the ATF"; just know the ATF doesn't give 2 flips about your trust.They aren't in the business of reviewing your trust When you submit for an item.
Where it will bite you if when/if there's a probate issue or if you don't understand the ins/outs of possession and what not (which from reading many don't have a clue).
Spend a few extra $$ and hire an attorney well versed in NFA laws and regulations.

That's what I was told by a reputable source. I haven't checked it myself. He was very informative and helpful when I used him.

As Quiet Texan pointed out in his post immediately following mine, the feds from U.S. department of Justice oppose Texas' new law. Therefore, it may have to go to the supreme court before it is ultimately decided. However, you can read the new law from the Texas legislature, HB 957, for your self.

A little while in the past in Texas, we had some counties (Williamson) that didn't approve suppressors despite state law. The dbag sheriff took a personal dislike to suppressors and viewed the notification section in the older form as an approval....which would never be granted. The trust would bypass this approval.

It didn't work so well in Kansas. NFA revenues are a massive cash cow for a dept that would otherwise be unmanageable with debt -- they will NEVER give it up, especially since nobody, not even our precious NRA, has successfully challenged the NFA in almost 100 years.

I have been wanting to add a suppressor for a while that would handle my 300 WSM and my AR15. After researching several suppressors, I called SC today. I spoke to Chase and asked several questions about the trust they set up for free with the purchase of their Banish 30. He was very helpful and patient as I asked all my questions. I learned they set up the trust with you only. They will help you add trustees later after you have possession of your suppressor but he said they will not do it before. Starting today they are able to do the process electronically so I spent about 5 minutes answering questions. They are going to mail me the fingerprint kit, should have in about a week. I will complete those, get my passport picture and submit it through a drop box link that they will give me ,and have to docusign a few signatures. The rest they handle. Right now they are being told the entire process electronically will take 90 days to have the suppressor at my door. I question the time line but glad I finally got the process rolling. I ended up getting the Banish 30 and the Banish 22 for a custom Ruger 10/22 I built this spring. I could have used the 30 on the 10/22 but chose to go with the smaller lighter one for the 22. The gun already weights 8 pounds.

He's correct that efile is back for Form 4s... saying 90 days from start to finish is a bit aggressive to me though, since we haven't been able to do this is a long time and Form 4 trust review is different than Form 1s that we've been able to efile for the last couple years. Also not sure if the ATF will reallocate manpower to efiles right away or if they'll try to plow through paper Form 4s that are received before this update was completed.
I'm excited either way, efile is significantly easier. And 'grats on the suppressors, once you get them the only thing you'll wonder is why you waited so long...

Awesome to hear! I have only good things to say about them, always helpful and a great product. You will love the baby Banish on your 10/22. Did you install the soft bolt bumper to quiet the bolt?

Thank you I am really looking forward to shooting with them. I did install the rubber bumper. It started as a base 10/22 then got a Volquartsen trigger kit, an Archangel synthetic stock adjustable for LOP and comb height. Has an 18" Shaw threaded bull barrel, and topped it with a Burris E1 4.5-14 with the moa Reticle I already had. It is really fun to practice long range shooting with but I really need to find some match grade ammo that will give more consistent velocities to truly practice with.

Awesome! I have one similar, with the Aquila ammo it sounds like a little mouse toot. If ATF comes through it will be great. Keep posted how it goes, I will be ordering a new one when it becomes available any day now.

This? Or something else? The Gemtech MIST-22 has been on my list for awhile, I haven't tried suppressing the 10/22 yet since mine is a cheapy and I haven't replaced the barrel with a threaded one yet.

I have Kidd buffer in 1 and a Volquartsen in the other. No such thing as a cheapie, all 10/22s are awesome, and have been for quite a while! I have 2 baby Banish suppressors for my 22s and they are awesome, try one you will love it! I have Kidd single stage triggers on both my 10/22s, one has a Green Mountain non threaded and the other a Kidd threaded. Both have Hogue stocks; they are the most fun and inexpensive to run.

I got the cheapest carbine model I could find with the plan being I'll eventually end up with two 10/22s - after I take the ultimate step and upgrade the receiver after replacing every other part in it.
I like the 10/22 a lot so far. I was always a Marlin Model 60 guy but the one I'm working on now is requiring me to source used parts to repair it, and I'm over the headache when the 10/22 has so much aftermarket support.
