Ya’ll In Trouble! Leupold 🔥 Dot

I have the Firedot duplex VX5HD on my 30-06, 6.5 Creedmoor and muzzleloader. Amazing and I shot this guy 1 minute after legal shooting light at 180 yards this Wednesday. I had the firedot on and I smoked him double lung.

My only gripe with this VX5HD 2-10x42 is at 2x I can see 1/16" of the objective lens at the edges. 2.2x and it goes away to edge to edge sharpness. I don't recall my 3-15x44 doing this. I'll have to check it.

l'm a huge fan of the fire dot duplex. I really don't like a cluttered reticle. Beautiful simplicity in an affordable high quality scope is all these old eyes needs.
Amen! Get to many different reticle trees going on between scopes and you can have a mental stumble in the heat of the moment. Even worse having Mil and MOA based adjustments!

Tree reticle really isn't practical in a second focal plane scope either.

EH, that makes more sense, and some watches are faster than others. 😄
You got that right. I tried to get in a virtual waiting room to buy OTC Elk tag the other day, could not get in until 9:30 MST, hit the button on my computer a few seconds after it turned 9:30 just to make sure I wasn't to early so it wouldn't kick me out, and when I hit the button to buy tags, I was number 9,800s. It was two hours before I could buy. Of course a lot the Elk zones were sold out , but I,m pretty happy where I got one.

I was in line at store before opening, got to counter just as sold out. Already paid Idaho outfitter. ****ed.

We black bear hunt with the VXR 2 X 7 Firedot scopes and we love them. We have four of them, they are the clearest of all the Leupold scopes that I own. And......then Leupold decided to drop this scope for whatever reason, but they dropped it. One of the guy who I hunt with just bought the VX5HD fire dot, that too is a really nice scope, but it's a $1000 price tag. For some that is not a lot of money, however it is for me. With the exception of one black bear, all have been shot using the Firedot. The best time for seeing black bear where I hunt is usually the last hour of daylight. Legal shooting time in September usually ends around 7:20-7:30 P.M., yet at around 6:45 P.M. P.M. the curtain is very close to being drawn and by 7:10-7:15 P.M. the party is pretty much over and one cannot see more than 20-30 feet in front of them if that. Up to those last few minutes the Firedot really extends ones ability to see a sight meaning the red dot.
