Paramount Pro Accuracy Issue

Carl that 200 yards is pretty good <MOA. At that rate you'll have a 1" group at 300 yards :). Sounds like pretty decent accuracy, at least much better than the CVA brake and your prior experiences.

I just ordered my brake from Anarchy Outdoors for the Paramount in Titanium. Hope to get to the range to try this thing out before long. Will report back when I do. Hope your next session goes even better for you!

Do you know what speed you're getting with the PB 280gr and 105 by weight BH209?
I don't know, don't have a chrono. I wish I did!!!

I'll be shooting the same Combo, I can post my speeds up with my Magneto Speed once I get to shoot it.

Shot a BIG big doe yesterday with my PP 280g ELR 105g Bh209 120 yards. Entry hole was the size of a silver dollar, exit was the size of a dime. I was expecting the opposite, but either way she went 30 yards and dropped. Double lung and through the aorta. I'll take it

Odd as Hell

Yeah it was weird. I actually started to second guessed which direction she was standing when I shot her by the way the entry/exit looked. She was in an open field walking right to left so I'm 100000 percent certain of how she was standing, the direction she ran, and what I was looking at through my **** scope. I've shot lots of deer, and had 10 minutes of watching her walk, and got her to stop by grunting at her. Crazy thing 1/2 of her lung was hanging out of the "entry" wound. If a crime scene investigator was at the scene, they would have said the shooter was on the complete opposite side of field than where I was actually sitting. Lol

Wow

Well I finally got out and shot my Paramount Pro today. Topped with a Leupold LRP 6.5-20x50, and Holland's bubble level. Bipod front and Bag on rear. Took 3 shots to get it sighted in, would have been 2 but I was so focused on the windage I didn't mess with the elevation, DUH lol.

I have a Titanium radial ported brake from Anarchy Outdoors. Pretty light at 1.45oz.

Shooting 285gr. ELR Powerbelts, 105Gr by weight BH209, CCI200 LRP

Started shooting for groups on the 4th shot out of this gun. 1st 2 groups with Brake on had fliers at about 4 O'Clock position. I was finding little pieces of the blue skirting all over, it sure appeared the skirting was contacting brake and blowing them out both sides. You can see some indentions in the brake from the inside. I'm not positive if they were there before or not but trying to figure out what's taking off the skirting. The picture shows some of the pieces found after 7 shots total. There was at least triple this after last shot with brake on. I cleaned barrel, took brake off, and fired a fouling shot.

Then shot for a group with brake off. 3rd group 1st 2 shots looked good, 3rd shot of group was lucky number 13 out of the gun lol and felt bipod slip as I squeezed it off and said #@#@#$$#@@# Lol. Decided I'd fire a 4th to redeem myself and was the worst shot. Now I guess this will work for hunting but I want to get this as accurate as possible.

Fired a 4th shot w/o brake to see it I could pull it together. Cleaned barrel before very first firings and between 2nd and 3rd group. Most shots felt very good and was on center dot when I squeezed them off. Without a brake and 105gr by weight it has A lot of recoil. Not sure if I'm not handling the recoil well and that's why groups aren't great?

I brought my Magnetospeed to chronograph speeds. Found out when on the barrel that my Battery was dead. Curious on Your guys' thoughts or tips? Shot some good groups with my other rifles in the .175"-.252" with a 6mm Creed, 7WSM, and 28Nosler. I'll get barrel cleaned well and see how it goes next time.

Does .496" opening in brake seem like enough for the skirting to clear? It doesn't appear to be. What would the appropriate opening need to be To use the Powerbelt ELR?

The shaving of the skirt through the brake has had an accuracy issue for quite a few owners. There are a lot of shooters who have, after many attempts with ELR's, changed to bullets like the Arrowhead XLD's and sizing them. Wool wads are recommended with BH and bullet to bore.

Yeah, I've read a lot of threads about the skirting contacting the brake causing accuracy issues (including this one). Anarchy claims the brake is made specifically for the CVA Paramount Pro. I thought the accuracy would have been worse with the skirting being shaved by the brake Considering others's missing the targets completely. Maybe it's just barely catching?

Curious as to how large the end opening needs to be for the skirt to clear?

I potentially plan on sizing and shooting bullet to bore with Arrowhead, or Parker at some point but have a bunch of Cva ELR's I'd like to shoot till and if I get there.

What I can say is, one of the top brake builders uses .500" with all his 45's and .560" with 50's.
I shot a UF BP Xpress for a number of years using sabots through a Harrel's radial. It shaved sabot flares but, the bullet had already left the sabot and were two unattached parts.
You can see where the base of these sabots went through the brake.

We ordered 3 of the Paramount Pro .45 cal. The first two we shot with the CVA brake gave a nightmare performance. Never even tried the third one after that and reading of others that had that problem. Wonder if CVA will make some adjustment on these three brakes. Rifles shoot under an inch at 100yds. without thebrakes.

Change bullets and get rid of the skirts. Buy a sizing die and try the Arrowhead XLD bullets.
