338 SHERMAN

You guys running Peterson 280 ackley brass are you having to neck turn them?

Mind sharing your process? I haven't done this before and welcome advice as to not wreck brass.
I sized up to 30 cal, then 338, the up to 358 with a 357 pistol die. The Lee dies are nice cause they have a long taper on the expander die. Hornady are also nice cause they have like an egg shaped expander ball

I also used powder graphite in the case necks.

Why up to .338 then to .358 and back down? To create the false shoulder?

I have read a few where folks are sizing to .30 and then to .338. Seating them jammed to create pressure to blow out the shoulder. This seemed more efficient and less stressful on the brass. I ordered a 35 Whelan die to expand, but am now rethinking and will test both to see what works best.

So no case lube in the necks, just the graphite? I have some and was thinking this would make things less messy.

Keep us posted on how just jamming and fireforming goes as that is my plan as well

I believe I read where Benchracer and Rich did it this way.

Works for the boss, I guess it will work for me🤪

Figured I would expand to .30, .338, seat to jam and fireform and then anneal for load dev.
Excited and this thing is months from being even put together.

Brown truck delivered…

Now we need the red sleigh to deliver dies.

Rich, any love from Hornady yet?

Probably a VX3 LR Or a Swaro Z3. Nothing heavy. Trying to keep it as light as possible.

With the VX3 it will be about 9.7 lbs.

Where can we see some pics with this empty and loaded cases next to some other cartridges using the same case or starting case? Where can we get the actual case capacity and dimensional specs of it? Looking forward to seeing what others are posting for velocity and load data going forward.
