There is more to this group than meets the eye! At first it appears to be a pretty awesome 3 shot group at 100 yards, however... this .345" group was shot at 200 yards out of a lightweight hunting rifle....by 2 separate shooters! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't been there as shooter #2!

My brother in law recently picked up a new Browning Hells Canyon Speed in 6.8 Western. For this particular session he was testing seating depth with the Sierra 175 TMKs. 5 different seating depths at 200 yards produced 4 groups sub 1/2 MOA and 1 that was 3/4 MOA. We had a variable light breeze, and chrono stats were single digit SDs and ESs under 20. He is running a 12x Trijicon Huron scope with no side parallax adj. as this gun is meant to be a high country backpacking rifle.

He had been working through his test loads while I was checking dope on a 338 WM, and having some 1k fun with my 7RM. Between barrel coolings he shot my guns some, then offered to let me shoot the last round out of his new rifle. I was excited to try it out, and surprised when he told me I needed to shoot the 3rd shot in the group he had started! He hadn't looked at it through the spotter and didn't know what he already had. My shot felt good and he went to collect the big cardboard target with orange sticker dots we were shooting at while I started packing up our gear. He came back pretty excited and we still can't believe it! Maybe this happens more often for other people, but this is a group I would be excited about at 100 yards, let alone 200 from 2 shooters!

Happy Shooting!

Nicely done. Bout 10yrs ago, once shot a just slightly moa (.9 something) 3 shot group at 200yds with a wby vanguard S2 in 300wby. You say whats impressive about that? 2 were factory wby ammo 180gr the 3rd was 165gr wby factory and here's the real clincher, 3 separate shooters, girlfriend (her rifle), hunting buddy's wife and myself. Probably couldn't do that again in 10000 tries or more. 😇

Haha, for sure!

Wow! That's almost unbelievable for a factory rifle. I see a bunch of 6.8 western ammo at my LGS but I don't know anyone with a gun that will shoot it. I guess I'll have to order one or get on the waitlist. I have a hells canyon LR in 300 win mag and it's a solid 1 MOA shooter and a dream to shoot and carry.

The X-bolts have been on my interest list for a few years now, but I am yet to own one. I actually recommended this gun to by brother in law before he got it. I am happy to hear you have also had good luck with the x-bolts. I have always liked the 270 WSM, and appreciate the modern version of it in the 6.8 western which provides the longer chamber throat and faster twist barrel to support todays long High BC bullets :)

I have had some great accuracy with the TMK's. My son is loading some TGK GameChanger for his .243.
I have had awesome luck with Sierra's as well. The buck in my Avatar picture was taken with a 160gr. gameking out of a 7mm WSM at 325 yards, while the same gun has taken bucks at 430 and 460 it has shot dime sized groups :) At those ranges the bullet mushroomed well, shed about a third of it's weight, and was found just inside the hide on the far side. I am personally very curious to see how the terminal performance of the TGK compares :)

Gater those are badass
The first time with the dimes started when we had this guy show up at the range talking about how his buddy could shoot a dime at 200 so after hearing it the third time I dug out 5 dimes walked down taped them to the target shot 5 shots hit 5 dimes but couldn't find one of them. Now it's a game I'll tape 5 on the target then just before I wrap it up I'll shoot them just for s- - ts and giggles

Now the ammo is getting more expensive on BOTH ends.....
