I took this deer with a 220 Hammer Hunter between 180 & 200 yards. Velocity average is 2911 FPS from the 28" barrel.

This is the exit. I did hit a lot of bone

WOW! That is some carnage for sure. I love my 35 Whelen, but I have not tried the Hammer bullets. I have never experienced an exit would of that size though in the several deer I've shot with it.
Can you give a little more detail on the shot. Placement, angle, etc? It appears the exit is on the right side shoulder, is that correct? Thanks.

Yes that is correct the deer was in a ditch and the entrance caught the lower back bone and exited the shoulder.
I hit a lot of bone.

Gotcha, that makes sense, and explains all the mess! I am hoping to get an opportunity to try my 35W on elk this season, I've shot 5-6 deer with it and have always been impressed. Congratulations on the deer!

My load for my 350 rem mag ai had a 225gr nose partition at 2982.

I could see that being your pushing it with a magnum. Im rebarreling a pre 64 model 70 to 338-06. Even with a 26" barrel the book doesn't show anything remotely close to 2900 fps with a 220gr bullet.
